Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future remains uncertain amid complicated contract talks with Arsenal.
Aubameyang has been the club's leading marksman since arriving from Borussia Dortmund for a club-record £55m fee in January 2018, scoring 49 in 74 Premier League appearances.
With his contract set to expire in 2021, talks over a new deal are proving difficult and Arsenal will look to sell the striker this summer to avoid losing him for free if an agreement can't be reached.
The Gunners will reportedly deal at £30million and Barcelona are monitoring the player's situation, while Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is also looking for a marquee attacking addition this summer.
Speaking in 2016, when he was playing for Dortmund, Aubameyang revealed he had promised his late grandfather he would one day play for Los Blancos.
The striker said: "Before he died two years ago I promised him that one day I would play for Real Madrid.
"My grandfather was from Avila, not far from Madrid. It’s what I said to him.
"I know it’s not easy but it’s something I keep in mind.
"I celebrate my goals with a cartwheel in honour of Hugo Sanchez.
"I’ve seen many videos of him on the internet and I’ve been following him since I was a boy."
Real Madrid are looking at Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, though both deals may be difficult to complete this summer.
Lautaro Martinez is another option, though he looks more likely to join Liga rivals Barcelona.
That could pave the way for Aubameyang to make good on his vow and seal a move to Real this summer, with Karim Benzema's dramtic dip in form highlighting a need for attacking reinforcements at the Bernabeu.
