Juventude arranca empate e mantém Sampaio Corrêa na zona da degola

O Sampaio Corrêa empatou nesta terça com o Juventude por 0 a 0 no Castelão em jogo atrasado pela 14ª Rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro da Série B. A etapa inicial foi bastante movimentada com as duas equipes perdendo ótimas oportunidades de abrir o marcador. Mas no segundo tempo a qualidade do futebol caiu drasticamente e o jogo ficou muito concentrado no meio-campo.

Com o resultado, o Juventude saltou para o 13º lugar com 18 pontos e se distanciou um pouco da parte debaixo. Em compensação o Sampaio Correa abre a zona do rebaixamento com 16 pontos.

Na próxima rodada o Sampaio Corrêa recebe na sexta o Goiás, às 20h30 (horário de Brasília), no Castelão. Já o Juventude enfrenta no sábado o CRB, às 16h30 (horário de Brasília), no Alfredo Jaconi.

O jogo

Os donos da casa já começaram pressionando o Juventude e logo de cara criaram uma grande chance. Com 01 minuto, Alyson arremessou lateral pela esquerda, João Paulo desviou a bola e Reginaldo Júnior quase marcou de cabeça. O goleiro Matheus defendeu e a bola foi pra fora. A resposta do Alviverde veio sete minutos depois quando Tony fez levantamento e Bonfim cabeceou para o fundo do gol, mas a arbitragem havia parado o lance marcando impedimento. Aos 11, Danielzinho recebeu a bola de Sobral, bateu pro gol e Matheus fez a defesa.

Melhor organizado e com mais ímpeto, o Sampaio Corrêa vem dando bastante trabalho a defesa do Juventude. Aos 18, Reginaldo Júnior bateu cruzado e Uilliam chegou de carrinho, mas não conseguiu alcançar a bola para abrir o placar. Mais uma chance desperdiçada pelo time maranhense. Enquanto isso o time gaúcho tem dificuldade de encaixar a marcação, porém no contra-ataque levou susto ao arqueiro Andrey. Aos 23, Felipe recebeu na frente e na velocidade tentou o gol para o Juventude, mas o goleiro fechou o gol. Dois minutos depois, Pará cobrou escanteio e Andrey evitou gol olímpico. No lance ele se chocou com a trave e pediu atendimento ao departamento médico.

Após passar sufoco nos primeiros 20 minutos, o Juventude conseguiu ter mais controle do jogo e evitou lances de perigo na sua área. Por outro lado, a equipe maranhense caiu de rendimento e não ameaçou a meta de Matheus Cavichioli.

Quem começou assustando na etapa final foi o Alviverde que logo, a 01 minuto, com Elias invadiu a área e bateu forte para a boa defesa de Andrey. Diferente do primeiro tempo, o Sampaio Corrêa tem mais posse de bola, porém tem imensas dificuldades de fazer jogadas de infiltração e entrar na área do Juventude.

O jogo ficou muito concentrado no meio-campo e as defesas levaram vantagem sobre os ataques. No setor de criação tem sido o principal problema das duas equipes na partida.

Nem as mudanças realizadas pelos treinadores de ambos os times conseguiram modificar o cenário do jogo. Aos 38, Esquerdinha deu carrinho em Pará e foi mais cedo para o chuveiro. Durante os acréscimos quase o Juventude chegou chegou a vitória através de uma jogada de Guilherme Queiroz que fez fila na defesa do Sampaio Correa e chutou forte. A bola bateu na trave.

Figueirense bate Guarani e dá fim à sequência de 4 jogos sem vencer

O Figueirense se recuperou nesta terça-feira após quatro jogos sem vencer na Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro. Visitando o Guarani no Brinco de Ouro, em Campinas, a equipe comandada por Milton Cruz mostrou desde os primeiros minutos que estava disposta a dar a volta por cima na competição e acabou saindo de campo com o importante triunfo por 3 a 2.

Com o resultado, o Figueira foi aos 25 pontos e assumiu provisoriamente a sexta colocação, se aproximando do grupo dos quatro primeiros times que garantem o acesso à elite do futebol nacional. Depois de um início extremamente positivo, chegando a brigar pela liderança com o Fortaleza, o time catarinense caiu de produção e tenta recuperar o prejuízo antes da virada de turno.

O Guarani, por sua vez, amargou sua quinta derrota na Segundona. O time também tinha a possibilidade de colar no G4 nesta terça-feira, porém, embora tenha feito um bom primeiro tempo, não conseguiu fazer frente ao Figueirense mesmo jogando em casa.

O jogo – O primeiro tempo foi bastante movimentado no Brinco de Ouro da Princesa. Logo aos sete minutos o Figueirense surpreendeu os donos da casa e conseguiu abrir o placar com Henrique Trevisan. O jogador apareceu sozinho dentro da área e cabeceou certeiro, no canto direito do goleiro Oliveira, para estufar as redes e colocar os visitantes em vantagem.

O Guarani, por sua vez, não se abalou e 13 minutos depois chegou ao empate com Rafael Longuine. O ex-jogador do Santos mostrou oportunismo ao aproveitar o rebote do arremate de Willian Oliveira e, com o goleiro Denis já vencido na jogada, mandar uma bomba para deixar tudo igual em Campinas.

Com o confronto bastante aberto, ambas as equipes seguiram criando boas oportunidades de gol, porém, somente aos 29 minutos a bola voltou a entrar. Em jogada trabalhada de forma primorosa, Henan tocou de letra para Gustavo Ferrareis, que decidiu arriscar de fora da área. O meia do Figueirense ainda contou com a falha de Oliveira, que ao tentar fazer a defesa desviou a bola e a viu passar por baixo de seu corpo, morrendo no fundo das redes.

Antes do apito final, o time de Santa Catarina ainda teve a oportunidade de ir para o intervalo com uma vantagem ainda maior no placar, porém, Henan acabou acertando a trave após bom contra-ataque. O castigo veio aos 42, quando Matheus Oliveira recebeu ótimo passe de Kevin e bateu firme no canto direito de Denis para empatar o jogo antes de o Bugre se dirigir para o vestiário.

Segundo tempo

A etapa complementar começou da mesma maneira que o primeiro tempo: com gol. Logo aos 11 minutos, Henan foi às redes para recolocar o Figueirense à frente no placar. Renan Mota deu bom passe em profundidade para seu companheiro, porém, Edson Silva apareceu no meio do caminho para fazer o corte. A bola sobrou para Éverton Alemão afastar o perigo, contudo, o zagueiro do Guarani falhou ao tentar mandar a bola para longe, e o atacante do Figueirense ficou livre para tirar do goleiro e marcar o terceiro tento do time catarinense.

Daí em diante o Figueirense conseguiu neutralizar bem as investidas do Guarani. Tentando se manter no ataque, o time comandado por Milton Cruz evitou as jogadas mais agudas dos donos da casa, que tentavam sair em velocidade, mas esbarravam no bom preenchimento de espaço da defesa catarinense.

Conforme a partida foi se encaminhando ao fim, os jogadores do Guarani acabaram apelando para a malandragem. Aos 33 minutos, Kevin se jogou dentro da área na tentativa de cavar um pênalti, mas o árbitro não foi iludido pela simulação. Pouco depois, jogando bola, o Bugre quase empatou. Rafael Longuine tentou finalizar, mas pegou errado na bola e na sequência rolou para Kevin. Desta vez, o jogador bateu cruzado, mas tirou muito do goleiro, mandando para fora.

Avaí e Atlético-GO não saem do zero em duelo na Ressacada

No jogo de abertura da 16ª rodada da Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro, Avaí e Atlético-GO não saíram do zero no Estádio da Ressacada, em Santa Catarina, nesta noite de terça-feira. O time da casa foi melhor no primeiro tempo e no início do segundo, mas os visitantes conseguiram equilibrar as ações ao longo do período.

Com o resultado, tanto o Leão quanto o Dragão permaneceram com a mesma campanha, na parte de cima da tabela: sete vitórias, cinco empates e quatro derrotas. Pelos critérios de desempate, o clube catarinense ocupa provisoriamente a quarta colocação da tabela, ficando no G4.

Na rodada seguinte, o Avaí vai até o Castelão, em Fortaleza, para encarar o time local às 21h30 (horário de Brasília) da próxima terça-feira. Por outro lado, o Atlético-GO recebe, em seus domínios, o CSA, no confronto de abertura da 17ª rodada da Segundona. O duelo será disputado na segunda-feira, às 20h00.

O jogo – A primeira etapa de embate foi de superioridade do Avaí. A equipe comandada por Geninho teve as melhores chances do período, mas esbarrou em uma sólida e bem construída formação tática do Dragão, proposto a não levar gols.

Aos seis, Matheus Barbosa levou perigo em chute abafado pela zaga goiana; aos 10, o defensor Marquinhos subiu no segundo andar e assustou o goleiro Jefferson após cobrança de escanteio; pouco depois, o arqueiro impediu gol de voleio de Getúlio ao fazer boa defesa.

Depois de uma pressão no início e no final do tempo inicial, o juiz Daniel Nobre Bins apitou o encerramento do período. Na volta para a segunda etapa, o Avaí seguiu apertando e tentando o gol que o colocaria à frente do placar no começo do tempo, com boas chances de Rômulo e Pedro Castro.

A partir da metade do tempo final, os visitantes equilibraram as ações. Entretanto, mesmo com a melhora do time comandado por Cláudio Tencati, o marcador não foi alterado e o zero não saiu do placar até o apito final, que decretou o final do jogo.

Vila Nova pressiona, mas não sai do zero com o Brasil de Pelotas

Buscando se consolidar entre os quatro primeiros da Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro, o Vila Novarecebeu o Brasil de Pelotas, no Estádio Serra Dourada, em Goiânia. Porém, após um primeiro tempo fraco, o Tigre acordou para a etapa final, mas não saiu do 0 a 0.

Destaque para o goleiro Marcelo Pitol, que foi exigido diversas vezes e salvou a pátria da equipe de Pelotas, que optou por jogar fechado e explorar os contra-ataques. A estretégia funcionou em boa parte da partida, mas faltou à equipe dar mais trabalho ao adversário quando chegava ao campo de ataque.

Com o resultado, o Vila se mantém provisoriamente na terceira posição, com 27 pontos ganhos. O Xavante é o 18º, na zona de rebaixamento, somando 15 pontos ganhos, e chegou ao quarto jogo sem vitória.

Na próxima rodada, o Tigrão pega o Figueirense, fora de casa, na próxima terça-feira, no Estádio Orlando Scarpelli. Já o time do Rio Grande do Sul joga em casa contra o lanterna Boa Esporte. Ambas as partidas serão às 19h15 (horário de Brasília).

O jogo – Os primeiros minutos no Serra Dourada foram de estudo e com pouca iniciativa das equipes. O Vila chegou aos nove minutos pela esquerda, mas a defesa cortou, após finalização de Alan Mineiro. O Brasil respondeu com Luiz Eduardo, que cabeceou no travessão, depois de cobrança de escanteio.

A bola parada seguia sendo o ponto forte do Brasil de Pelotas. Pereira cobrou falta no capricho, e a bola raspou a trave do goleiro Rafael Santos. Porém, em meia hora de partida, poucas chances eram criadas. O Vila Nova, não conseguia mostrar sua superioridade e não se encontrava durante o primeiro tempo.

Até o final do primeiro tempo, o jogo seguiu sem grandes emoções. O Tigre fazia uma partida decepcionante, enquanto o Xavante se saia bem na sua proposta de contra-ataque e segurar o adversário. Assim, nos primeiros 45 minutos, o placar não se movimentou.

Disposto a conquistar os três pontos, os donos da casa voltaram mais ligados e partiram para cima nos primeiros minutos da etapa complementar. Mateus Anderson arriscou de perna esquerda, e exigiu boa defesa de Marcelo Pitol. O atacante teve mais uma chance, mas parou no goleiro novamente.

Aos 10 minutos, o Vila Nova quase saiu na frente. Alan Mineiro levantou para a grande área, em cobrança de falta. Marcelo Pitol saiu mal, mas para sorte do goleiro, a bola acabou indo direto pela linha de fundo. Porém, assustou os visitantes, que estavam muito recuados, e sem conseguir encaixar o contra-ataque no segundo tempo.

Instantes depois, o Vila perdeu a grande oportunidade do jogo até então. Em lançamento pela direita e ajeitada de cabeça, o atacante Ramon errou o tempo de bola, desperdiçando a chance. A torcida perdeu a paciência com o jogador após o lance, e começava a pedir Alex Henrique, o reserva do camisa 9.

A intensidade Tigre foi diminuindo aos poucos. No entanto, o time conseguiu outra boa chance de inaugurar o marcador. Mateus Anderson recebeu na área, e deu um toquinho de cabeça, Marcelo Pitol espalmou para escanteio. Na sequência, o arqueiro do Brasil fez outra bela defesa, e já era o nome do jogo. O time de Pelotas chegou pela primeira vez no segundo tempo com Valdemir, mas Rafael Santos defendeu.

Nos instantes finais, a pressão seguia, mas os donos da casa não conseguiram furar o bloqueio defensivo do Xavante e partida acabou em 0 a 0.

Frankreich: WM-Feier auf Champs-Élysées mit Tränengas beendet

Wie erwartet feierte ganz Frankreich am gestrigen Abend den WM-Titel 2018. Allerdings ging es dabei nicht überall friedlich zu. So beispielsweise eskalierten die Siegesfeiern rund um den Champs-Élysées in der Hauptstadt Paris. Zudem gab es auch schwere Auseinandersetzungen in Lyon, Straßburg und Marseille.

Ausschreitungen bei Siegesfeiern in Paris mit Tränengas beendet

In Paris auf den Champs-Élysées ist die Siegesfeier für Weltmeister Frankreich eskaliert. Denn es gab vereinzelte Zusammenstöße zwischen der Polizei und einzelnen Fans. Daraufhin räumte die Polizei den Prachtboulevard in der französischen Hauptstadt und setzte dabei Tränengas ein. Gut 30 mit Skimasken verkleidete Randalierer gingen in Geschäften in Paris auf Raubzug: ihre Beute waren Champagner und Wein. Einige von ihnen warfen zudem Stühle und Flaschen auf Polizisten, die mit Wasserwerfern und Tränengas antwortete. Außerdem gab es einen Verletzten nach einer Schlägerei. Insgesamt waren in Paris rund 110.000 Polizisten im Einsatz. Sie sollten für Ordnung rund um die Siegesfeiern sowie aufgrund des französischen Nationalfeiertags am Samstag im Einsatz.

Auseinandersetzungen auch in anderen Städten

Doch nicht nur in Paris gab es Zwischenfälle bei den Jubelfeiern. Auch in Lyon, Ajaccio, Marseille und Straßburg wurde nicht nur friedlich gefeiert. In Lyon beispielsweise lieferten sich gut 100 jugendliche Fans und Polizisten eine Auseinandersetzung. Auch hier setzte die Polizei Tränengas ein. In Marseille wurden sogar zwei Polizisten bei Auseinandersetzungen verletzt. Insgesamt zehn Menschen wurden festgenommen. Darüber hinaus lieferten sich in Ajaccio französische und kroatische Fans eine Auseinandersetzung.

An Lothar Matthäus scheiden sich bekanntlich die Geister. War der deutsche Rekordnationalspieler auf dem Rasen unbestritten einer der Größten der Fußball-Geschichte, so sind die Erfolge als Trainer doch eher blass geblieben. Und auch manche seiner Äußerungen finden nicht immer grundsätzliche Zustimmung bei jedermann. Dennoch hält sich der frühere Spieler vom FC Bayern München, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Inter Mailand und den New York Metro Stars selten zurück. So auch jetzt in Sachen Transfers beim FC Bayern.

Paulo Dybala könnte Bayerns Hammer-Transfer werden

Denn nach den Hammer-Transfers von Neymar vergangenen Sommer und von Cristiano Ronaldo diesen Sommer erwartet der Herzogenauracher Ähnliches auch in Zukunft beim FC Bayern München. In seiner wöchentlichen Kolumne auf Skysport.de schrieb der Rekordnationalspieler nun:

„Der FC Bayern wird in naher Zukunft die 41,5 Millionen, die für Corentin Tolisso bezahlt wurden, toppen und 60, 70 oder 80 Millionen für einen Spieler bezahlen. Der Erste der mir dabei einfällt ist Paulo Dybala. Sollte Juve und der Spieler Gesprächsbereitschaft signalisieren, sind die Bayern garantiert da.“

Paulo Dybala beim FC Bayern München? Auf den ersten Blick ist dieser Transfer kaum vorstellbar. Allerdings scheint ein Abgang des Argentiniers bei Juventus Turin nach der Ronaldo-Verpflichtung nicht ausgeschlossen zu sein. Doch sollte der deutsche Rekordmeister tatsächlich an diesem Wechsel baggern, so ist man an der Säbener Straße sicherlich nicht glücklich über die Matthäus-Äußerung.

Julian Draxler für Lothar Matthäus vorstellbar

Darüber hinaus bringt Lothar Matthäus auch einige deutsche Nationalspieler mit dem FC Bayern in Verbindung. Dazu schrieb der 57-jährige:

„Meiner Meinung nach, ist der aktuelle Kader der Bayern schon ziemlich gut. Wenn ich an einen Transfer denke, der „Bayern-like“ wäre, fällt mir als erstes Julian Draxler ein. Deutsch, jung, vielseitig einsetzbar, schnell. Und wenn man ihm Vertrauen schenkt, so wie Jogi beim Confed Cup, ist Draxler ein richtig toller Spieler. Ich wünsche mir Tempo, Dribbling, Mittel um defensive Teams zu knacken. Da fällt mir für die Bayern eben ein Draxler ein, der bei Paris unzufrieden auf der Ersatzbank sitzt. Ebenso denke ich da sofort an Timo Werner oder Julian Brandt.“

Bislang hat der FC Bayern München für die neue Saison 2018/2019 mit Leon Goretzka erst einen neuen Spieler verpflichtet. Der deutsche Nationalspieler kam ablösefrei vom FC Schalke 04.

West Ham United Football Club: 2018 Summer Transfer Focus

Survival can be considered the only positive point of West Ham’s 2017/18 Premier League campaign. With the team in the relegation zone, Slaven Bilic saw his two-year spell in charge of the club come to an end in November, with David Moyes taking over as manager on a short-term deal.

After leading the club to Premier League safety, many believed Moyes would be the man to lead West Ham into the new season. The club’s controversial board disagreed. Former Premier League winning manager Manuel Pellegrini has been given the job on a three-year deal, becoming the club’s highest ever paid manager. The Chilean has promised fans attacking football, and with a reported £75 million war chest available to him, is after four or five new players.

Out of contract Fulham right-back Ryan Fredericks has agreed to join the club on a four-year deal after rejecting a new contract from the Premier League new boys. Both Patrice Evra and James Collins will be released, with the latter being told via email that he was leaving the club despite eleven years of service. West Ham will also not be attempting to make Joe Hart’s loan move permanent, despite Manchester City wanting less than £5 million for the goalkeeper. Fellow loanee Joao Mario has returned to Inter.

Attacking football has been promised, and attacking reinforcements look set to join the club this summer. The club’s representatives are in talks to bring PSG midfielder Javier Pastore to the club for £20 million. The Argentine would provide some much-needed help for compatriot Manuel Lanzini.

Last summer’s key transfer target William Carvalho is also finally being allowed to leave Sporting Lisbon, but it appears the Hammers will face competition from Everton for his signature. With Adrian now the only senior goalkeeper at the club, a move for Burnley captain Tom Heaton may be best for all involved, especially since the emergence of Nick Pope. Willy Caballero, a goalkeeper Pellegrini’s coached at both Malaga and Manchester City, has also been linked to the club.

Hammer of the Year Marko Arnautovic is subject of interest from Manchester United. After signing for £25 million last summer, the club are unwilling to sell the Austrian and are likely to demand a fee in excess of £50 million. Fredericks arrival will see Sam Byram’s time at the club come to an end, with the player set to move on this summer. It is perhaps unsurprising that Robert Snodgrass looks set to leave the club. Javier Hernandez has said he will wait until after the World Cup before deciding on his future following a disappointing return to the Premier League.

Gerrard 'a bit mixed' as Rangers progress in Europa League

Steven Gerrard admitted he has concerns about Rangers' shot-shy strike-force after their stalemate with FK Shkupi in Macedonia.

The Glasgow club squeezed into the second Europa League qualifying round 2-0 on aggregate following a goalless second leg in Skopje on Tuesday evening, but new boss Gerrard confessed afterwards that he was worried about his side's lack of cutting edge.

"I'm a bit mixed right now," the former Liverpool captain told RangersTV. "We're pleased with one side of the game but there is certainly a hell of a lot of work to do on the other side.

"Out of possession we were good, our shape was good. We were aggressive and I'm pleased with the clean sheet. I thought Allan McGregor and my two centre-backs (Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic) were outstanding."

The hosts at the Philip II Arena rarely looked capable of troubling the Light Blues, but visiting goalkeeper Allan McGregor did have to produce a crucial stop late on to ensure Shkupi were not thrown a last-gasp glimmer of hope.

Rangers progressed to face either Petrocub of Moldova or Croatian side Osijek, but Gerrard accepted he has work to do to ensure his side are not left firing blanks once more.

He continued: "Shkupi got one real chance on goal late on which we will look at but our game management was really good. We handled everything that was put at us bar that one chance.

"So there is definitely a base there for how we want to look away from home. It's a platform to build on.

"But I'm disappointed with us in possession for the first 30 minutes. I don't think we passed the ball well enough, and throughout the game there was a serious lack of quality in the final third.

"We will get better on the ball and we will improve in the final third.

"There are things I'm pleased at, but I am concerned about the lack of quality in the final third." 

Ancelotti targeting Batshuayi?

Carlo Ancelotti’s friend visited Napoli training today and revealed he is “trying to sign an interesting, young, important striker," rumoured to be Michy Batshuayi.
The new Partenopei Coach replaced Maurizio Sarri this summer and is back in Serie A after spells at Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
“I saw Ancelotti really happy, as he is enjoying himself at Napoli,” friend and basketball Coach Alberto Bucci told Sky Sport Italia.
“He hadn’t been given 20 days for pre-season training for over 12 years, so he has the opportunity to create so much here. There are the right conditions to build the team he is dreaming of.”
With Arkadiusz Milik barely playing for two years due to a series of knee injuries, Napoli have been linked to several strikers.
“He is trying to sign an interesting, young, important striker, but I can’t name names, I can’t betray a friend. A clue? It’s not Morata.”
Reports had emerged today that Napoli might join the list of clubs tracking Chelsea forward Morata, along with Milan and his old team Juventus.
According to Calciomercato.it, this is another Chelsea forward, specifically Batshuayi.
The 24-year-old Belgium international has just returned from a six-month loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.

Man Utd Women goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain OK after neck injury

Manchester United goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain is "recovering well" from the injury which forced the abandonment of Sunday's pre-season friendly with Liverpool.

The England international was taken to hospital after inuring her neck.

The club said on Twitter: "Siobhan Chamberlain sustained a suspected serious neck injury during #MUFC Women's pre-season game v Liverpool.

"All medical precautions were taken which necessitated abandonment of the game whilst Siobhan was treated prior to hospital transfer.

"Fortunately investigations confirmed no serious injury and Siobhan is recovering well."

The 34-year-old, who has 50 caps for her country, joined United from Liverpool Ladies earlier in July.

United were granted a place in the second tier after announcing earlier this year they would be launching a women's team.

Report: Chelsea are in talks with Real Madrid concerning Courtois and Hazard

It is not a secret that Real Madrid like Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard of Chelsea a lot. According to Sky Sport, it seems like Chelsea are now in talks with Real Madrid for the pair as Los Blancos are ready to sign both after selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.

Still according to this report, it would take at least 160-170 million euros to get the pair as talks are ongoing. If the blues do sell both (especially Courtois), then they might decide to strongly go after Roma's Alisson who is close to Liverpool. The reds will have to act quickly as Chelsea like him a lot. Roma are currently looking to get close to 75 million euros for the Brazilian keeper as he certainly won't come cheap. There should be more news on this front in the coming days as the transfer market is set to heat up...

Liverpool could return for World Cup winner: The missing piece of the jigsaw?

Liverpool have already had a pretty impressive transfer window as Jürgen Klopp has overseen the arrival of three big-name signings. Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri have joined the Reds but there is room for further improvement in the coming weeks.

With less than a month to go before the window closes, Liverpool need to ensure they get the deals done in time. While signing a goalkeeper has been mooted, recent reports indicate that the club could return to try and make another attempt to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir.

Fekir recently lifted the World Cup with France and has been edging for a move following a very successful season with the Ligue 1 outfit. Shaqiri’s signing sort of gave a hint that the Reds have settled for a cheaper alternative but with another long season of league and European football coming up, Klopp needs to be able to replace the first team stars with equally good players in the bench.

Why did the Nabil Fekir deal collapse in the first place?

There have been reports that Fekir failed his medical at Melwood while others have stated that the deal collapsed because Liverpool weren’t ready to match Lyon’s asking price for the attacker.

Considering the Reds went after Shaqiri, who cost much less than Fekir’s asking price, one can’t help but think that it was the asking price that played a hand in the deal going cold.

Is it worth going after Fekir?

Though Fekir has an alarming injury history, he is still only 24 and showed what he is capable of last season. Playing as an attacking midfielder, Fekir scored 18 goals and assisted eight more and seems like a player who can score at will even from midfield.

Liverpool haven’t replaced Philippe Coutinho yet as Oxlade-Chamberlain is a different sort of player. Fekir, with his ability to pick a pass and dribble past opposition defences, could be the ideal player Liverpool need against teams who will play a low-block.

He didn’t play a prominent role for France in the World Cup, but every time Deschamps gave him a few minutes, he gave a good account of himself.

Liverpool already have a fearsome front three and with players like Fekir, Fabinho and Keita behind, the Reds could be an unstoppable force next season and finally challenge City and United for the league title.

Everton in advanced talks to sign Bordeaux winger Malcolm

Everton are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Bordeaux winger Malcolm.

The Brazilian, who has scored 20 goals in 84 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, had been attracting interest from Arsenal in January, though it appears Marco Silva’s side are in a promising position to sign the highly rated forward.

Capped once at U23 level for Brazil though yet to make an appearance for the seniors, Malcolm at the age of 21 is considered to be one of Ligue 1’s biggest future stars, and his potential arrival at Goodison Park is likely to excite fans of the Toffees as they go in search of a redeeming 2018/19 campaign after a dismal showing last season.

For Malcolm, a move to Merseyside would present a truly outstanding opportunity to test himself as well as reap the financial rewards the Premier League has to offer. If Everton are able to secure this singing, adding to the forward players they already possess, including Yannick Bolasie, Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun, then 2018/19 could truly be an exciting for Silva’s side as they pursue domestic glory and push for an elusive Champions League qualification.

Liverpool launch bid for Roma keeper Allison

Liverpool have reportedly tabled a £62m offer to sign Roma’s Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson.

Roma are waiting to see if Liverpool will increase their bid, though it would currently break the world record fee for a goalkeeper. The Italian side is rumoured to be seeking in excess of £65m for their star asset.

Alisson, who recently turned out for Brazil at the World Cup in Russia, has been on the books for two years at Roma, though a blockbuster move from the Merseyside outfit could turn his head towards the realms of the Premier League.

The 25-year-old kept 15 clean sheets in 34 Serie A appearances last season, proving his ability as a shot-stopper. As well as this he possesses superb distribution boasting a 79% pass accuracy in the league last term. Das Finale der Weltmeisterschaft 2018 ist erst wenige Tage vorbei, da hält sich das BVB-Gerücht um den kroatischen Vizeweltmeister Mario Mandzukic hartnäckig in den Medien. Ein Wechsel des im Dienste vom italienischen Serienmeister Juventus Turin stehenden Mittelstürmers scheint nach Meinung vieler Experten dennoch als ausgeschlossen.

Mandzukic mit Bundesligaerfahrung

Trotz der Verpflichtung von Cristiano Ronaldo soll Mario Mandzukic beim Serie A Meister Juventus Turin bleiben. Zwar benötigt Juve aufgrund der fälligen Ablöse für Ronaldo dringend Einnahmen durch Spielerverkäufe, aber Mandzukic soll nicht zu den Verkaufskandidaten gehören. Ob der kroatische Nationalspieler überhaupt einen Wechsel anstrebt, ist nicht bekannt. Sein Ziel dürfte es aber sein, neben dem mehrmaligen Weltfußballer Ronaldo auf dem Platz zu stehen, wenn gleich ihm Coach Massimiliano Allegri keine Garantie erteilt, dass dieser wie einst beim FC Bayern München, als zentraler Mittelstürmer vorgesehen ist.

Ronaldo löst bei Juventus Turin eine Wechselrochade aus, da der Verein dringend Einnahmen durch Spielerverkäufe generieren muss, um die Ablösesumme von gut 117 Millionen Euro zu finanzieren. Bisher wurde bereits ein Teil der Summe durch Trikotverkäufe generiert. Um weitere Ablösesummen zu erzielen, soll stattdessen Gonzalo Higuain den Verein verlassen, dieser liebäugelt offensichtlich mit einem Wechsel zum FC Chelsea, wo seit einigen Tagen Maurizio Sarri als neuer Teamchef das Sagen hat.

Borussia Dortmund auf Stürmersuche

Die Leihe von Michy Batshuayi, der seit Beginn der neuen Saison wieder beim FC Chelsea trainiert, wurde nicht verlängert, obwohl der BVB noch immer in der dünn besetzten Offensive Verstärkung sucht. Kein Wunder, dass sich die Borussia mit dem erfahrenen und einst erfolgreichen Stürmer Mandzukic beschäftigt. Seine Qualitäten sind trotz seiner 32 Jahre unumstritten. Zwar wusste Mario Mandzukic bei den Bianconeri nicht immer zu überzeugen und erzielte in 129 Spielen nur 34 Tore, dennoch schafft er in der Offensive immer wieder wertvolle Freiräume. It's deja vu all over again as LAFC and the Portland Timbers square off at Banc of California Stadium for the second time in four days. This time, a berth in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals will be on the line after the Western Conference foes battled to a 0-0 draw in MLS play Sunday.

The Timbers are in the quarterfinals for the third time in club history, while Bob Bradley tries to march another expansion team to the title after doing that with the Chicago Fire in 1998.

LAFC  

LAFC left it late in a dramatic 3-2 win over Sacramento Republic in the Round of 16, with Diego Rossi equalizing in the 67th minute and then setting up Latif Blessing’s 89th-minute winner.

LAFC remain unbeaten at the Banc (7-0-4 overall) and are within three points of first-place FC Dallas in the Western Conference with a scoreless draw against Portland on Sunday that stretched an unbeaten streak to six.

“They’re a team that’s dangerous in transition and we did a solid job of handling that so now we turn it around and play them under different circumstances on Wednesday, obviously Open Cup and a night game,” Bob Bradley said. “A lot of the ball, but now it’s just that pure ability to find the way to make a real chance.”

Portland Timbers

Sebastian Blanco’s goal on the half-hour mark proved to be the difference as Portland defeated the LA Galaxy, 1-0, in the Round of 16 last month at Providence Park. If they eliminate the other LA club on Wednesday, the Timbers will equal their deepest run in the tournament since joining MLS in 2011, reaching the semifinals in 2013.

The Timbers extended an unbeaten streak to 12 league games with Sunday’s 0-0 draw against LAFC. Portland beat the expansion side, 2-1, at Providence Park in May in the only other matchup between the Western Conference powerhouses.

“We’ll analyze what we did well today, what we need to improve, and we have an idea already for Wednesday,” Giovanni Savarese said “But we have to make sure that we revise it, plan and be ready for what we’re going to bring on Wednesday.”
