England skipper Kane out until April with hamstring injury

Harry Kane will be sidelined until April after Tottenham revealed the England captain needs surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring.
Kane suffered the injury while taking a shot during Tottenham's Premier League defeat at Southampton on New Year's Day.
"Following ongoing assessment by our medical staff over the past week, we can confirm that Harry Kane will undergo surgery to repair a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring," a Tottenham statement said on Thursday.
"The decision to undergo surgery is not expected to impact the timeframe that the England captain will be sidelined, with the expectation that he will return to training in April."
Kane has scored 27 goals in 31 appearances for club and country this season and his loss is a huge setback for Tottenham.
Tottenham are spluttering under Jose Mourinho after an initial bounce following his appointment in November, winning only one of their last five games in all competitions.
They sit sixth in the Premier League, six points behind fourth placed Chelsea, ahead of this weekend's daunting visit from runaway leaders Liverpool.
The 26-year-old will be absent from a host of key fixtures, including Tottenham's Champions League last 16 ties against Leipzig and domestic games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United among others.
With Kane out, Mourinho is likely to try to land a striker in the January transfer window and Tottenham have already been linked with AC Milan forward Krzysztof Piatek and Borussia Dortmund's Paca Alcacer.
The Tottenham boss deployed South Korea winger Son Heung-min in the central striker's role for last weekend's FA Cup draw at Middlesbrough.
Kane's injury is also a setback for England as they prepare for the European Championships later this year.
England are due to play friendlies against Italy and Denmark in March and boss Gareth Southgate will now be without his captain for those warm-up games.

Inter Miami take Robbie Robinson No. 1 overall in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft

The 2020 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas got underway on Thursday with Inter Miami selecting college soccer's top scorer, Clemson forward Robbie Robinson, with the first pick of the draft.
Robinson, who took home the 2019 MAC Hermann trophy as college soccer's best player, put up 18 goals and 9 assists for the Tiger, and was signed as a Generation adidas player in December following the conclusion of his junior year.
Fellow expansion side Nashville SC also picked a Generation adidas player with the No. 2 pick, selecting Indiana defender Jack Maher. The 20-year-old was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 and helped the Hoosiers to an NCAA Division I-leading 15 shutouts.
Miami were back at it with the No. 3 pick, acquired in a November trade with FC Cincinnati, this time choosing pre-signed senior Dylan Nealis, a right back from the national champion Georgetown Hoyas. Nealis was a Hermann Trophy finalist and First Team All-American, and is the younger brother of New York Red Bulls defender Sean Nealis.

Pre-signed players off the board quickly

Another Generation adidas player came off the board with the fourth pick of the draft, as Vancouver got some attacking help by selecting Syracuse winger Ryan Raposo.
One of the draft’s most talked-about prospects, Virginia forward Daryl Dike, went to Orlando City with the No. 5 pick after a timeout. The Lions will be hoping for another draft success here after scoring with Chris Mueller at the sixth pick two years ago.
New England completed the run on Generation adidas players with the sixth pick of the draft, picking 6'3" center back Henry Kessler out of national runners-up Virginia, the last GA player available in the draft.
After a run on pre-signed players with the first six picks, only one pre-signed senior remained: Stanford defender Tanner Beason. He didn't last long though, and will have a very short move to make after he was selected No. 12 by the San Jose Earthquakes.

New coaches make their moves

A couple teams with new coaches found themselves in the top 10 of the draft, giving them a wide array of options to help shape new rosters in their image. The Houston Dynamo, led by longtime US U-20 head coach Tab Ramos, selected forward Garrett McLaughlin from Southern Methodist University.
Thierry Henry and the Montreal Impact went a different direction, selecting UNC right back/defensive midfielder Jeremy Kelly with the No. 9 pick before eventually sending him to the Colorado Rapids for $75,000 in General Allocation Money.
The Chicago Fire, also under new management with head coach Raphael Wicky and sporting director Georg Heitz, also traded away their pick, sending the No. 10 selection to the New York Red Bulls for $100,000 in General Allocation Money, which they used to select Marquette left back Patrick Seagrist.

Nashville bet on the draft

Prior to acquiring Kelly, Colorado the 11th pick to Nashville for $75,000 in GAM, which NSC used to pick Wake Forest right back Alistair Johnston.
Nashville also spent to acquire the 13th pick, dealing $50,000 in GAM and $50,000 more of conditional GAM to the Revolution in order to select UNC-Charlotte goalkeeper Elliot Panico.

Three GKs go in First Round

Panico was the first of three goalkeepers to go in Round One. D.C. United selected towering (6'9") goalkeeper Simon Lefebvre from Temple University, following their acquisition of the No. 21 pick from Philadelphia earlier in the day. Three picks later, LAFC selected goalkeeper Paulo Pita from Marshall.
It is not surprising to see a few teams focus goalkeepers on goalkeepers as the draft evolves — players at that position often hit their prime later than field players, and clubs can have more of a hand in their development.

Arsenal boss Arteta not expecting 'big things' in transfer window

Mikel Arteta has warned Arsenal supporters not to expect "big things" in the January transfer window, with the club unlikely to make permanent signings after a hefty outlay in the summer.
Arsenal broke their club transfer record to recruit Nicolas Pepe as well as completing moves for David Luiz, Gabriel Martinelli, Kieran Tierney and William Saliba at a total cost of around £130 million ($170 million).
"I don't know, I'm not expecting big things," Arteta said when asked on Thursday about potential transfer business.
"I'm expecting big things from the players I have at the moment, the players that are recovering from injuries. That's the biggest expectations from my side.
"If we can find something to help us go through the season in a more balanced way in certain areas, and which is helpful, we'll look at the options."
Arteta, who joined the club last month, has overseen victories in his past two games, a 2-1 Premier League win over Manchester United before a hard-fought FA Cup third-round success against Leeds on Monday.
Arsenal travel to face Crystal Palace on Saturday in 10th place in the Premier League, nine points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Ahead of the tie with Leeds, forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang used his column in the club's match programme to say speculation he was angling for a move away from the Emirates Stadium was wide of the mark.
"People like making up stories and they should focus on what's happening on the pitch," he wrote. "They talk too much and it does my head in.
"I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs."
Aubameyang's contract expires at the end of next season and Arteta said any talks over an extension would not take place until the end of the current campaign.
Asked if he was confident the forward would stay, Arteta replied: "I don't know, we haven't discussed that. But I'm confident that he's very happy here because that's what he said in the media.
"I was very pleased to read those comments. He knows exactly what I think about him and obviously he's a massive player for us."

Meret, il periodo no continua

Report: West Ham United submit bid for £17m player

According to Football Insider, West Ham United have multiple agents working on a deal to sign Gabriel Barbosa from Inter Milan in the January transfer window.
Barbosa is back at Italian giants Inter after a loan spell at Brazilian club Flamengo.
The report has claimed that the Nerazzurri want £17 million as transfer fee for the 23-year-old forward, who scored 34 goals in 43 matches during his loan spell at Flamengo.
West Ham have reportedly made an offer to sign the Brazilian on loan and the make the contract permanent and have “multiple agents” working on their bid.
Good signing for West Ham United?
West Ham could do with a prolific forward, not just for the second half of the season, but beyond the summer of 2020.
Barbosa may have struggled to make an impact at Inter, but he has recovered his form at Flamengo.

The Brazil international forward could hit the ground running at the London Stadium, and that is exactly what David Moyes’s side need.

Dynamo Kyiv's back Sidcley transferred to Corinthians FC

Brazilian player returns home

Dynamo Kyiv FC’s Brazilian defender Sidcley will continue his career at Corinthians FC, Dynamo’s official website reported this.
In the 2019/2020 season, Sidclay did not play a single match for Dynamo. His last days were in Brazil, where he was training with Corinthians.
As a result, after agreeing to a significant pay cut, the Brazilian signed a lease with the club. Sidcley's contract is set for a year.

26-year-old Sidсley became a Dynamo player in the summer of 2018. He played in 17 matches and scored one goal for the Kyivites.
As we reported earlier, Dynamo Kyiv’s midfielder Denys Harmash will spend the rest of the season in Turkey, where he will play for Rizespor FC.
According to the press service of the Turkish club, the lease was officially announced on January 5. Harmash underwent a medical examination on January 6, and joined the team at the meeting.
He will join Dynamo’s ex-player Mykola Morozyuk, who was transferred to Rizespor in June 2019.

Virgil Van Dijk Is The First Defender With A 99 Rated Card On FIFA

Virgil Van Dijk Is The First Defender With A 99 Rated Card On FIFA

Virgil van Dijk has created history by becoming the first defender to have a 99 rated card on FIFA, after being named in the FUT Team of the Year.
The Liverpool defender made history last year when he became the first defender to be named as UEFA's Men's Player of the Year and it was a surprise when he didn't add the FIFA and Ballon d'Or to his award cabinet.
However he has been voted by fans and gamers in the FIFA 20 Ultimate Team 'Team of the Year' and that's earned him an upgraded card, the first 99 rated card for a defender.
As per FUT Head the Dutchman will has 99 defence, 98 physical, 92 passing, 90 dribbling and even his attacking stats are decent with 88 pace and 80 shooting.

The FUT 'TOTY' was voted for by fans for the first time this year and, including Van Dijk, European champions Liverpool players dominated the team.
Alisson is in net for the team and the defence in front of him has three familiar faces with the former Southampton centre back joined by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson at full back.
The only non Liverpool player in the defensive line is Matthijs de Ligt who impressed at the beginning of 2019 during Ajax's run to the Champions League semi-final, before securing a move to Juventus last summer.
Midfield is the only part of the pitch lacking any Reds' players with N'Golo Kante, Frenkie de Jong and Kevin de Bruyne combining in the middle of the park.
Upfront is the impressive trio of Sadio Mane, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, meaning that Cristiano Ronaldo misses out on a place in the XI.
