Zamalek lost 2-1 to Generation Foot in the first leg (Ahram)

Egypt's Zamalek cannot afford any slip-up as they aim to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit when they host Senegal's Generation Foot in the African Champions League in Cairo on Thursday.
Generation Foot finally agreed to play the game after declining to show up at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium last month after the second leg of the competition's second preliminary round was delayed for one day.
The visitors argued that the sudden date change had violated the regulations of CAF, while Zamalek cited a letter from the African governing body that sanctioned the postponement.
After protracted deliberations, CAF finally decided to re-schedule the match for a second time, having failed to blame either side.
Generation Foot initially sought to be awarded a win but backtracked following CAF's decision. They will be hoping to cause an upset and eliminate five-time African champions Zamalek.
The Cairo giants have been inconsistent lately, producing some uninspiring displays. Although they made a fine start under Serbian coach Micho by winning the Egypt Cup, they slumped to a stunning 2-1 defeat at the unfancied Generation Foot in the first leg and only spared their blushes via a late goal from striker Mostafa Mohamed.
In the domestic league, they won three out of their first four matches but were far from convincing. They were also held to a 1-1 draw by top-flight debutants FC Masr.
Micho has yet to settle on his ideal starting line-up, with his frequent tweaks a cause of concern for Zamalek's fans.
The White Knights will miss Moroccan winger Mohamed Ounajem after they failed to register him in time for the preliminary rounds, but they welcome back Mostafa Fathi following a lengthy injury layoff.

Liverpool condemn fans for 'racist' Divock Origi banner

Liverpool have condemned a "racist" banner depicting Divock Origi that was displayed in the away end before their Champions League clash with Genk in Belgium on Wednesday.
The banner appeared to show Origi's head photoshopped onto a naked body alongside the Champions League trophy. It was removed before the match started.
A club statement said: "Liverpool Football Club condemns the offensive banner displayed in our section of the ground, prior to kick-off.
"To be clear, the image used perpetuated a racist stereotype. This is completely unacceptable.
"We acted swiftly to have the banner removed and we are now working with the local authorities and stadium team in Genk to identify those responsible.
"Any subsequent action will be taken in keeping with our sanctions process."

Rodgers revival has Leicester dreaming again

Revitalised by the appointment of manager Brendan Rodgers and free-scoring form of Jamie Vardy, Leicester City are once again upsetting the applecart of the Premier League's top six.
Three years on from a remarkable title triumph that allowed football fans across the world to dream, third-placed Leicester could leapfrog defending champions Manchester City into second in the table with victory at Southampton on Friday.
The Foxes have more points after their opening nine game of the season than Claudio Ranieri's side managed in 2015/16 when they went on to beat odds of 5,000/1 to be crowned champions of England.
The standards set in recent seasons by City and European champions Liverpool, who already hold an eight-point lead over Leicester at the top of the table, mean the chances of matching that remarkable feat look just as slim now.
However, Leicester do harbour realistic ambitions of a return to the Champions League by becoming the first side outside City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United to break into the top four in four seasons.
When Rodgers took over in February, a squad filled with talented young players plus the title-winning experience of Vardy and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was languishing in the bottom half of the table.
Since then only City, Liverpool and Chelsea have taken more points than Leicester.
Rodgers endured a whirlwind ride in just over three years in charge at Liverpool, coming agonisingly close to ending the club's long wait for a league title in 2013/14 before being sacked in October 2015.
He rehabilitated his reputation with seven trophies in two-and-a-half seasons at Celtic before returning to the Premier League with an immediate impact.
"Leicester are built like you would like to build a team," said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp earlier this month, whose side needed a 95th minute penalty to beat the Foxes 2-1 at Anfield earlier this month.
"If you get a point against Leicester it will be a success for 95 percent of all the teams."
Sheffield United, Bournemouth, Tottenham, Newcastle and Burnley have already been put to the sword by Rodgers's men with Vardy very much the constant threat.
The former England striker has scored 15 times in 20 games under Rodgers.
"He is a remarkable player. He is a world-class striker, there's no question about that," said Rodgers after Vardy's latest strike against Burnley.
"His numbers are phenomenal. He is always ready, and playing against teams that sit deep he can still find a way to score a goal.
"To be consistently at the level he can be at, it takes a huge amount of concentration."
Indeed, Rodgers has even taken his other attacking players to task leaving too much of the goalscoring burden on the 32-year-old.
"There's no doubt we can get better," added Rodgers. "The mentality is getting better and that is the exciting thing I have with this group, there is so much more to come from them."
Rodgers may soon also have even more talent at his disposal.
Leicester's bright start to the campaign has come despite not spending most of the £80 million ($103 million) they received from Harry Maguire's move to Manchester United in August.
According to reports on Thursday, the club are ramping up their plans to splash some of that cash in the January transfer window to take full advantage of the floundering fortunes of United, Arsenal and Tottenham to break the glass ceiling of the top four.

Thiago Motta appointed Genoa coach

Former Italy international Thiago Motto was appointed coach of Serie A strugglers Genoa on Tuesday hours after Aurelio Andreazzoli was sacked.
Brazilian-born Motta played for Paris Saint-Germain from 2012 to 2018, with his only previous coaching experience with PSG's U19 team, which he managed until July 2019.
The 37-year-old takes over a Genoa side that has won just one game out of eight played this season against Fiorentina on September 1.
They are second from bottom of the Serie A table with 20 goals conceded after Sunday's 5-1 defeat to Parma.
Motta oversaw his first training session on Tuesday and will be officially presented at the north-western side on Wednesday.
The former Barcelona and Atletico Madrid midfielder played for one season with Genoa, before moving to Inter Milan in 2009, winning the treble the following season under Jose Mourinho.
He won five Ligue 1 titles at Paris Saint-Germain, and two La Liga crowns with Barcelona.
Motta earned 30 caps playing for Italy, reaching the finals of Euro 2012.
Genoa escaped relegation from Serie A last season on the final day under Cesare Prandelli, who was replaced by Andreazzoli in June.
Motta's first game in charge will be on Saturday against Mario Balotelli's Brescia, before travelling to Turin to play defending champions Juventus next week.

Messi's historic goal helps Barcelona edge Slavia Prague

Lionel Messi claimed another goal-scoring record as Barcelona edged a spirited Slavia Prague 2-1 on Wednesday as the Spanish giants stayed top of Champions League Group F.
Messi opened the scoring after three minutes, beating Slavia goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar with a low left-footed shot to become the first player ever to score at least once in 15 consecutive Champions League seasons.
The 32-year-old Argentinian first robbed midfielder Petr Sevcik outside the Slavia box before a quick exchange with Arthur put him neatly through the static Slavia defence.
Barca earned a second on 57 minutes when Slavia winger Peter Olayinka deflected a Luis Suarez close-range shot from an impossible angle into his own net as the hosts failed to clear Messi's free kick.
Olayinka sealed Barca's sixth straight competitive win but deprived Suarez of a goal that would end his four-year drought in away games in European cup competitions.
Left-back Jan Boril scored for Slavia five minutes after half-time, capitalising on a superb pass threaded by Lukas Masopust that found him one-on-one with goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen.
Barcelona top Group F with seven points from three games and are three ahead of Inter Milan who beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0. Slavia sit at the bottom with a single point.
Ernesto Valverde made two changes from last weekend's 3-0 win at Eibar, calling up Nelson Semedo and Gerard Pique to replace Samuel Umtiti and Sergi Roberto, both sidelined with knee injuries.
Jaroslav Zeleny almost grabbed a goal for Slavia on 20 minutes after a superb pass from Boril, but his shot bounced off the feet of a diving ter Stegen.
At the other end of the pitch, Messi curled a free kick into the Slavia box but Clement Lenglet's poke was too weak to surprise Kolar, while minutes later Suarez blasted the ball over the crossbar.
Slavia came close again when Zeleny put through Masopust whose low shot was stopped by ter Stegen, and only seconds later the German keeper had a hard time clearing Olayinka's shot over the crossbar.
Kolar then denied Suarez after a fine pass from Messi before kicking out Frenkie de Jong's powerful low attempt from inside the box.
Slavia had a third good chance just before half-time, but Lukas Masopust missed narrowly with a low left-footed effort across the goal.
After the break, Slavia midfielder Nicolae Stanciu missed narrowly from long range and skipper Tomas Soucek headed over the crossbar.
Messi saw two shots cleared by Kolar and failed to finish into a gaping goal, while Suarez's low shot went just wide.
Slavia put the visitors under heavy pressure in the closing minutes but the Barcelona defence did a good job blocking all their shots and ter Stegen stopped Olayinka's stoppage-time header on the line.

Ramos confirms fine from Spanish tax authority

Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos has confirmed he has been fined by Spanish tax authorities for irregularities relating to his image rights between 2012 and 2014.
According to the newspaper El Mundo, Ramos was fined one million euros for transferring revenue to his own company Sermos 32 SL, which is based in Spain, in order to pay less tax.
The Spain and Real Madrid captain has paid the fine but said in a statement late Tuesday he plans to appeal as he claims he was unfairly penalised by a change in the law.
Ramos joins a growing list of high-profile footballers targetted in recent years by the Spanish tax agency, who have cracked down on loopholes in regulations on image rights.
But while the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar have faced criminal proceedings, Ramos has emphasised his case is administrative.
"It is an administrative fine, not a criminal offence," Ramos said in the statement.
"Given the information published recently, I would like to emphasise that I declare all my income in Spain. I have a team of professional advisors who analyse, manage and resolve all my tax matters.
"I am aware of all my obligations to the Tax Agency. The Tax Agency notified me of a different settlement during the period 2012-2014 after changing the criteria that the administration itself had indicated to me in previous years, payments that I have now fully reimbursed.
"Given my disagreement with the change of criteria of the Tax Agency and, I reiterate, given my payment has been paid administratively, I have exercised my right to appeal."

Flamengo(Brazil) thrash Gremio to set up River Plate Libertadores final

Hotshot Gabriel Barbosa scored a brace as Flamengo hammered fellow Brazilians Gremio 5-0 on Wednesday to secure a place in the Copa Libertadores final against Argentine holders River Plate.
Bruno Henrique, Pablo Mari and Rodrigo Caio also got their names on the scoresheet as the Rio de Janeiro giants completed a 6-1 aggregate victory over the 2017 champions at the Maracana stadium.
River Plate made a 2-1 aggregate victory over their bitter Buenos Aires rivals Boca Juniors on Tuesday despite losing the second leg 1-0.
That was a repeat of last year's final, the second leg of which was controversially played in Madrid after the original fixture was twice postponed due to Boca players suffering cuts and smoke inhalation when their team bus came under attack from River fans.
This year's final will be played over a single match for the first time, on November 23 in Santiago.
Despite being Brazil's most popular team, Flamengo have only once before won the Copa Libertadores, back in 1981. River are looking for a fifth title.
Gremio fashioned the first clear chance of the match on 18 minutes when the livewire Everton -- one of the stars of Brazil's Copa America victory three months ago -- tricked his way into space inside the box and sent a cross into the danger area.
Diego Alves spilled it but from just six yards out and Maicon could only stab the ball back to the Flamengo goalkeeper.
From then on, though, the hosts dominated.
Rafinha, sporting rugby style head gear, chipped a cross in from deep on the right on 26 minutes and Henrique dashed across his day-dreaming marker before sending a diving header inches wide.
Ten minutes from half-time Uruguayan Giorgian de Arrascaeta tried to chip Gremio goalkeeper Paulo Victor who could only palm the ball out to Gabriel, but his speculative overhead bicycle kick bounced harmlessly across the face of goal.
The pressure told on 43 minutes, though, as Gabriel found space with a diagonal run and Victor could only palm his cross-shot into the path of Henrique, who had a tap-in.
A minute after half-time Flamengo doubled the lead as Brazil international Gabriel -- on loan from Inter Milan -- rifled high into the net from 15 yards after a poor clearing header from a corner.
The 23-year-old striker then held up a sign that read: "Today's there's a goal from Gabi Gol."
The tie was over as a contest 10 minutes later when Geromel was harshly adjudged to have brought down Henrique in the box.
Gabriel cooly slotted home the spot kick as Victor dived the wrong way, taking him top of the competition's scoring charts this season with seven goals.
A grinning Henrique, who had been carried off the pitch on a stretcher seemingly in agony, joined in the celebratory dance steps.
Mari and Caio got in on the act with headers from set pieces on 67 and 71 minutes as Gremio's defence capitulated.

Inter Milan interested in Bayern star Muller - report

Inter Milan are interested in signing former Germany star Thomas Mueller, who has lost his starting place at Bayern Munich, magazine Kicker reported on Thursday.
The 30-year-old has often found himself on the bench this season behind Philippe Coutinho, who Bayern coach Niko Kovac prefers in the attacking midfield role.
According to Kicker, Inter's "interest is intensifying" and the Italian giants could bring Muller to Milan in the January transfer window.
Mueller made a rare start, only his fifth of the season, in Tuesday's 3-2 win at Olympiakos in the Champions League on the right wing, helping set up two goals for Robert Lewandowski.
"I'm trying to concentrate on playing football. Slowly all the discussions will come to an end," Mueller told reporters in Athens when asked about his future at Bayern.
He has spent his entire career at Bayern, who he joined as a schoolboy in 2000, and club president Uli Hoeness has made it clear that no one at the club wants to see Mueller leave.
It has been a difficult year for Mueller, who was told by Germany coach Joachim Loew in March, alongside fellow 2014 World Cup winners Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng, that he has no future in the national squad.

Inter Milan beat Dortmund to boost Champions League last 16 hopes

Lautaro Martinez and Antonio Candreva scored in either half to boost Inter Milan's Champions League last 16 hopes on Wednesday with a 2-0 win over Group F rivals Borussia Dortmund.
Argentina forward Lautaro Martinez continued his fine form scoring after 22 minutes in the San Siro, but missed a chance for a second from the penalty spot eight minutes from time.
But Candreva sealed the three points a minute from time to move Antonio Conte's side move off the bottom of Group F having fallen 2-1 to Barcelona and holding Slavia Prague 1-1.
Inter join Dortmund on four points with Barcelona top with seven points from three games.
