Preview: Suwon Samsung Bluewings vs Seongnam FC

Suwon Samsung Bluewings shift their focus back to the K League on Sunday, when they host a struggling Seongnam FC at the Big Bird. Can Joo Seung-jin  spring a change in their fortunes after replacing Lee Lim-saeng at the helm? Bluewings columnist Nived Zenith previews the clash.

Jeju United 0-1 Suwon Bluewings

The Bluewings began their FA Cup title defence with a narrow win over second-division outfit Jeju United in Seogwipo during midweek. Lee Lim-saeng’s men were made to toil hard for their progression to the quarter-finals, as Jeju ensured the tie went into extra time. However, Adam Taggart, who started the game on the bench, netted the decisive goal in the 99th minute for the holders.

Daegu FC 1-1 FC Seongnam (2-4 on penalties)

Seongnam also progressed to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup during midweek, when they got the better of Daegu FC on penalties. The Magpies forced the game into extra time through a goal from Lee Chang-yong, after Cesinha had put the hosts ahead at the brink of half-time. Both teams were unable to find the winning goal in extra time and were forced to settle for penalties. Kim Nam-il’s men converted all of their spot kicks, while both Sin Chang-moo and Kim Dae-won missed for their counterparts to settle the tie.

Previous Meetings

Over the years, Suwon and Seongnam have contested 70 matches in total in the Korean top-flight. Both teams have enjoyed considerable success in the fixture, but Suwon are slightly ahead in terms of victories with 27 games playing out in their favour. Seongnam have registered four wins fewer (23) than their counterparts, while the teams have shared the points on 20 separate occasions.

During the 2019 campaign, Seongnam secured a 2-1 win and a 0-0 draw at the Big Bird, with the other game at Tancheon drawing a blank stalemate as well. However, the Bluewings ran out 2-0 winners when the two sides met earlier this term back in June. Notably, that win remains only one of two times Lim-saeng’s side have secured maximum points from their 11 outings this term.

Team News

Arguably the biggest news to have come out from the Big Bird is that manager Lee Lim-saeng has resigned from his duties. It is believed that Lim-saeng voluntarily stepped down from his post and is set to be replaced by Joo Seung-jin on an interim basis. In terms of other changes, the Bluewings are expected to recall Adam Taggart back into the starting eleven on Sunday, while the likes of Doneil Henry and Terry Antonis might also retain their berth. Min Sang-gi and Kim Min-woo could also be in contention to start the game, as the hosts prepare to try and put an end to their poor run in the league.

Just like their opponents, Seongnam also played 120 minutes of football during their midweek FA Cup triumph. As such, Kim Nam-il could make a few changes to the eleven that beat Daegu earlier this week. Jamshid Iskanderov could make his way back into midfield, while Lee Jae-won and Kim Hyun-sung could feature again from the start. It remains to be seen whether Tomislav Kis gets an opportunity to start the game.

The Adversary

After a bright start to the 2020 K League campaign, the wheels have come off the Magpies’ cruise in the top-flight. Seongnam, who enjoyed a four-game unbeaten run at the start of the season, have yet to win since their triumph over FC Seoul at the end of June.

As such, Kim Nam-il’s side have been drawn back into the battle to avoid relegation and they currently lie ninth in the table, level on points with Gwangju and Seoul below them. The goals have also dried up for Seongnam, who have the second-worst record in front of goal in the division.

However, the Magpies managed to earn a point against defending champions Jeonbuk Hyundai last weekend and will take heart from the fact they were able to establish a two-goal lead over the title-aspirants. In spite of that, Seongnam will have to defend much better, if they are to come away with a much-needed win against Suwon.

What To Watch

Will Adam Taggart maintain scoring streak?

Despite his sluggish start to the season, Adam Taggart has rekindled his scoring touch in recent weeks. The Australian netted a brace in the Super Match draw against FC Seoul, while he also found the back of the net at the Steelyard against Pohang last weekend. Suwon also relied on his goal during extra time to edge past Jeju United in the FA Cup during midweek, after he came off the bench to help the team get through to the quarter finals.

The onus will be yet again on Taggart to help Suwon get back to winning ways in the K League on Sunday, when a struggling Seongnam visit the Big Bird. Coincidentally, the 27-year-old had scored during the 2-0 win over the Magpies last month and will be hoping to maintain his recent form in front of goal.

Prediction

The fixture promises to be a huge six-pointer at the bottom of the league table, with both teams level on 10 points from their 11 games. Suwon can emerge victorious over Seongnam, should they defend sensibly and with commitment. The score line could be narrow, but the hosts might just edge it by a goal at the Big Bird on Sunday.

USA - MLS delays debuts of three expansion teams over virus

Major League Soccer has delayed the inaugural seasons of three new expansion teams as it manages the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the league, a statement said Friday.

MLS said that while new Texas club Austin FC would kick off their inaugural season in 2021 as planned, the debut of Charlotte's new expansion team had been shunted from next year to 2022.

Expansion franchises in St. Louis and Sacramento will now join the league in 2023 instead of 2022.

MLS said the revised timetable would give teams extra time to begin business operations and stadium development following disruption from the coronavirus crisis.

Austin FC's debut will go ahead as planned as the club, formally announced as an expansion team in January 2019, had already made "significant progress" towards its launch before the pandemic hit.

"We have always taken a thoughtful and strategic approach to our expansion planning and have delivered successful launches for every new club," said MLS Commissioner Don Garber.

"It is important for each club to take the necessary time to launch their inaugural MLS seasons the way their fans and communities deserve.

"With the extra year to make up for what has been a challenging 2020, these teams will be well-positioned for their debuts and for long-term success."

The 2020 MLS season was halted in March as the coronavirus pandemic erupted, but returned earlier this month with a World Cup-style tournament played at a single location in Orlando, Florida.

• Thibaut Courtois, matrícula de honor

Tras el partido contra el Granada todos pensábamos que el guardameta del Real Madrid ya no podía hacer más para justificar su victoria en la carrera por el Zamora, pero estábamos bastante equivocados. La portería protegida por los vikingos estuvo mucho más amenazada en el segundo tiempo. Los locales perdieron energía y tuvieron que dar un paso atrás en la presión, lo cual hizo que el conjunto de Castellón comenzara a merodear con mucho más peligro por la mitad de campo del Madrid. Los minutos fueron pasando y a pesar de que la defensa estuvo sobresaliente, comenzó a flojear y Courtois se vio obligado a entrar en acción.

El meta madridista se puso la capa y sacó varios balones que facilmente pudieron acabar dentro de su portería y culminó su actuación con una espectacular doble parada en el tiempo añadido. Aunque Iborra no le dejó mantener la portería a cero con un cabezazo casi imposible de alcanzar, al belga no se le puede poner ninguna pega en este partido puesto que de nuevo, su aportación ha sido crucial. De hecho, Tibú no solo hizo que todos los madridistas quedaran de nuevo atónitos con su masterclass de cómo se defiende un resultado, sino que también despertó en ellos un sentimiento de orgullo tras protagonizar una de las imágenes más valientes del partido: en el minuto 67, el portero de los merengues sufrió un terrible rodillazo en la cabeza al lanzarse al suelo a intentar despejar el balón para frenar el avance hacia la meta de un futbolista del Villarreal.

Las repeticiones dejaron a más de uno con mal cuerpo y muchos se esperaban lo peor. Sin embargo, Courtois se recuperó rápidamente y permaneció sobre el terreno de juego para posteriormente salvar los 3 puntos con las paradas que acabamos de mencionar. A este paso, Florentino Pérez deberá considerar seriamente añadir un monumento en los planos del nuevo Bernabéu.

• Dos genialidades que quedaron al margen

Karim Benzema anotó un doblete tras marcar el gol decisivo desde los once metros en la segunda parte, pero el tanto pudo haberse producido de otra manera si no fuera porque Karim se apresuró al entrar en el área de Asenjo con el fin de llegar a tiempo para rematar la ejecución de la pena máxima de Sergio Ramos. Si, Benzema era el encargado de marcar el penalti del camero. Esto se debe a que los vikingos quisieron añadir un gol más a la galería de genialidades del francés dándole el pase de la muerte desde el punto de penal en vez de disparando directamente. La travesura terminó en gol, pero Hernández Hernández, con razón, ordenó repetir el penalti.

En el último suspiro del encuentro, Vinicius también dejó una jugada que hubiera sido de recuerdo de no ser porque le monsieur tocó el balón con la mano justo antes de dárselo a Vini. El brasileño dejó atrás a los defensas del Mallorca prácticamente sobre la línea de fondo, con un mínimo espacio, para adentrarse casi hasta el área pequeña y dar una asistencia a Asensio, quien anotaría un gol correctamente invalidado.

'We're back!': Leeds promoted to Premier League

Leeds United were promoted to the Premier League on Friday after West Bromwich Albion's 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield ensured the Championship leaders will end their 16-year exile from the top-flight.

Marcelo Bielsa's side were able to celebrate promotion without kicking a ball as second placed Albion's failure to take three points guaranteed Leeds will finish in the top two.

"We are back. Leeds United are Premier League," the club said on their Twitter account moments after the final whistle.

Leeds are five points clear at the top and they can clinch the Championship title with a draw against Derby at Pride Park on Sunday.

Albion's defeat means third placed Brentford will reach the top-flight for the first time in 73 years if they win their last two games.

A tense 1-0 win over Barnsley at Elland Road, secured by Michael Sollbauer's own goal, had moved Leeds to the brink of promotion on Thursday.

Now they can look forward to renewing old rivalries with Manchester United and Chelsea next season.

"It's unbelievable and it's still not sunk in," Leeds captain Liam Cooper said.

"Our club, our fans and our players have sacrificed so much. We've been in the doldrums for 16 years.

"To lead this team to promotion back to where we know we've always belonged is unbelievable. We deserve it. We've been the best team all season."

Bielsa has earned iconic status in west Yorkshire after the Leeds boss finally put his club back on the football map.

Midfielder Kalvin Phillips saluted Bielsa's contribution, saying: "When the manager first came in I never thought I would be in this position two years down the line.

"He's the best in the world. There's no manager I would rather be under than Marcelo Bielsa.

"The Premier League is the best in the world and after 16 years we're back in there."

Despite warnings from Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani to stay at home amid the coronavirus pandemic, Leeds fans gathered outside Elland Road to celebrate, but their emotion was understandable.

Leeds are one of England's biggest clubs, with their legion of fanatical fans following them around the country and regularly attracting home crowds of over 30,000 despite years of underachievement.

Their long-awaited return to the top tier completes a turbulent journey that saw them become a laughing stock when they languished in third tier obscurity.

Leeds have been away from the Premier League for so long that Twitter and Instagram didn't exist the last time they played in the top-flight.

So it was fitting that Leeds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla took to Twitter to celebrate, writing: "We are BACK! We are in the Premier League! Yessssssssssss!

"Many days dreaming of this Day. We deserve it. Proud of this TEAM, proud of our supporters."

Liverpool midfielder James Milner, who started his career at Leeds, tweeted: "Congratulations LUFC. Back where you belong."

Leeds went through 14 different managers following their 2004 relegation from the Premier League, until the sleeping giant was awoken by former Lazio and Marseille boss Bielsa.

Bielsa has turned the tide at a tortured club infamously labelled the 'Damned United' by novelist David Peace and forever remembered as 'Dirty Leeds' in the minds of fans who saw their no-holds-barred style in the Don Revie era.

The 64-year-old Argentine led Leeds within touching distance of promotion in his first season, but they crumbled in the final weeks and were beaten in the play-of semi-finals by Derby.

Notorious for working his players so hard in training that they often burn out by the end of the season, Bielsa has benefitted from the coronavirus hiatus allowing his players to come back refreshed for the final furlong of the promotion race.

Champions of England in 1969 and 1974 under Revie, then in 1992 when Howard Wilkinson called the shots, Leeds have a rich history.

But since being relegated from the top tier, Leeds have stumbled from financial disaster off the pitch to despair on it.

Describing the club's ascent to the heady heights of the Champions League in the early 2000s, former chairman Peter Ridsdale claimed he had "lived the dream".

Their subsequent fall was a never-ending nightmare that hit its lowest ebb in 2007 when Leeds went into administration and were relegated to the third tier for the first time.

No wonder the much-travelled Bielsa, nicknamed El Loco for his intense personality, is so beloved after just two years in charge.

Götze-Spur nach Sevilla wird wieder heißer

Mario Götze umspülen seit Monaten Transfergerüchte. Nach seinem Aus bei Borussia Dortmund ist es aber erst mal etwas ruhiger um den ehemaligen deutschen Nationalspieler geworden. Angeblich ist das Interesse des FC Sevilla wieder aufgeflammt.

Fast zwei Monate ist es her, dass Borussia Dortmund offiziell bekanntgab, sich von Mario Götze zu trennen. Seither und auch schon vorher wurde eifrig spekuliert, welchem Klub sich der frühere DFB-Auswahlspieler als nächstes anschließen könnte. Der FC Sevilla scheint verstärktes Interesse zu signalisieren.

Grundinteresse vorhanden

Nachdem sich die Andalusier zuletzt auch nach anderen Optionen umgeschaut haben, findet zwischen dem Götze-Umfeld und Sevilla wieder ein Austausch statt, berichtet Sky. Ein Grundinteresse seitens des LaLiga-Klubs an einer Zusammenarbeit sei vorhanden. Auf der Götze-Position steht bei den Nervionenses lediglich der 31 Jahre alte Franco Vazquez im Kader.

Weniger Gehalt, dafür Champions League

Aus monetärer Sicht müsste Götze natürlich auch in Sevilla deutliche Abstriche in Kauf nehmen. Beim BVB wurde der 28-Jährige angeblich mit zehn Millionen Euro fürstlich alimentiert. Ein Salär, das der FC Sevilla nicht mal im Ansatz stemmen kann. Sportlich kann der Klub um Cheftrainer Julen Lopetegui mit der Champions League locken. Als Vierter des spanischen Fußballoberhauses steht in der kommenden Saison die Königsklasse auf dem Programm.

Fehl-Transfer? Arp hofft auf baldigen Durchbruch bei den Profis

Im Sommer vergangenen Jahres wechselte Jann-Fiete Arp für drei Millionen Euro Ablöse vom Hamburger SV zum FC Bayern München. Ein Einsatz in der Profi-Mannschaft blieb bisher aus. Zwar wird der 19-Jährige noch immer als großes Talent im deutschen Fußball geschätzt, böse Zungen meinten aber schon damals, dass er den Durchbruch bei den Bayern nicht schaffen wird.

Statt in der Beletage des FC Bayern München mitzuwirken und um Titel wie die Deutsche Meisterschaft, den DFB-Pokal oder gar um den Champions League-Triumph zu kämpfen, bekam Fiete Arp in der abgelaufenen Saison nur Einätze in der 3. Liga generiert, bei der 2. Mannschaft der Bayern. Immerhin: Dort wirkte Arp in der Rückrunde bei elf Partien mit und feierte am Ende die Drittliga-Meisterschaft mit den „Amateuren“. Sein Anspruch ist allerdings ein anderer …

Arp ein Profiteur der neuen Marschroute des Vereins?

Wie die Bild berichtet, war aus dem Umkreis des Spielers zu hören, dass Arp immer noch auf den großen Durchbruch beim FC Bayern München hofft und eine Ausleihe oder gar ein weiterer Wechsel nicht zur Debatte stehe. Dabei kommt dem Angreifer entgegen, dass Ex-Weltmeister Miroslav Klose ab der kommenden Saison das Team von Cheftrainer Hansi Flick unterstützen wird, der sich vor allem um die jüngere Generation kümmern soll. Zum anderen soll Vorstandsboss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge angekündigt haben, in den nächsten zwei Jahren verstärkt auf Talente zu setzen. Ein idealer Zeitpunkt für Arp, um richtig durchzustarten.

Aposta no time da casa (time da casa já começa a partida perdendo de 1x0. Logo, essa aposta é pra equipe da casa virar o jogo, ou seja, ganhar por uma diferença de pelo menos 2 gols, antigo handicap casa-1).
Aposta no time de fora (time de fora já começa a partida ganhando de 1x0. Logo, essa aposta só será perdedora se o time da casa ganhar a partida, ou seja, o time de fora precisa empatar ou ganhar pra aposta ser vencedora, antigo handicap fora+1).
Aposta no empate (como o time de fora já começa a partida ganhando de 1x0, pra partida terminar empate pro handicap, o time da casa precisa ganhar a partida por 1 gol de diferença exatamente. Só dessa forma a aposta será vencedora, antigo handicap empate+1).
Handicap 1:0
Aposta no time da casa (time da casa já começa a partida ganhando de 1x0. Logo, essa aposta só será perdedora se o time de fora ganhar a partida, ou seja, o time da casa precisa empatar ou ganhar pra aposta ser vencedora, antigo handicap casa+1).

Eventos de Minutos:
Para um evento de 10 minutos, por exemplo, os resultados apostados devem acontecer entre 00:00 e 09:59 (minutos) para serem contados dentro dos primeiros 10 minutos (ex.: um escanteio atribuído neste período, mas cobrado após os 10 minutos não conta. O mesmo vale para laterais, pênaltis, gols, etc...).
Gols Mais/Menos:
Exemplos:
Gols - Menos de 2.5: As apostas ganham se houver 0, 1 ou 2 gols marcados no jogo. As apostas perdem se houver 3 ou mais gols marcados no jogo.
