USL MATCH PREVIEW & WEBSTREAM | T2 to host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC Wednesday on Providence Health & Fitness Day


PORTLAND, Ore. – Heading into Week 8 of the 2017 USL season, T2 will play host to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at Providence Park on Wednesday, May 10, as part of Providence Health & Fitness Day; kickoff is set for 11 a.m. (Pacific). Wednesday’s match will be available via a live, high-definition web stream at www.timbers2.com.

Thousands of Portland-area students will be in attendance for Providence Health & Fitness Day, where activities promoting physical health, fitness and nutrition will take place on the concourse throughout the day in addition to an on-field assembly highlighting exercise and health education. Additionally, students from Washington Elementary School and Nellie Muir Elementary School will sing the national anthem on the field prior to kickoff.

The match on Wednesday marks the first of two matches between the two clubs in 2017, as both teams will meet again on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Weidner Field. In the last matchup between the two clubs, T2 played to a 1-1 with Colorado Springs in Portland on Aug. 3, 2016.

T2 (1-7-0, 3pts) enter this Wednesday’s Providence Health & Fitness Day matchup looking to bounce back from a 2-0 loss on the road to Seattle Sounders FC 2 on May 5. Sounders FC 2 took the lead in the sixth minute after Irvin Parra scored from the penalty spot, and added another goal in the 52nd minute when Parra scored from 35-yards out. Forward Russell Cicerone and midfielder Omar Mohamed both made their first starts of the season. Timbers Academy product Lucas Cini made his T2 and USL debut as a second-half substitute, and almost scored when his headed effort from the center of the box flashed wide of the post in the 89th minute.

Colorado Springs (3-2-3, 12pts) enter Wednesday’s match following a 3-0 over Tulsa Roughnecks FC on May 5 at Weidner Field. Colorado Springs currently sits in third place in the Western Conference standings, and have a record of 1-1-2 on the road this season. Midfielder Mastanabal Kacher leads the team with four goals scored, while forward Aaron King and defender Josh Suggs are tied for the team lead with two assists. Goalkeeper Moise Pouaty leads the team with 12 saves.

Following Wednesday’s match, T2 will travel to play OKC Energy FC on Wednesday, May 24; kickoff is set for 5 p.m. (Pacific).
