Liverpool 'target' is Premier League-bound but Reds must solve big problem

Liverpool are constantly linked with the next big things in world football, scouring the market for the best talent to further supplement a squad already brimming with talent.
Dayot Upamecano certainly falls into that bracket.
Arsenal and both Manchester clubs are said to be interested in the Frenchman, and while Barcelona have been credited with an interest too according to reports in Spain, the player is thought to have identified England as his next stop.
RB Leipzig would prefer to keep their star players and build further under manager Julian Nagelsmann, who has guided them to second place in Germany, behind only Bayern Munich, this season.
But Upamecano has a release clause of around £54 million - similar to the clause believed to be included in the contract that Timo Werner has with the Bundesliga outfit.
Speaking on the latest transfer special podcast on the Blood Red channel, French football writer Tom Williams revealed that Upamecano has a big future ahead of him - and is likely to be heading to England when he makes the next move in his career.
Williams said: "He looks like a complete modern centre-back: tall, strong, quick, and good on the ball.
"He is someone who enjoys having the ball and backs himself to throw a forward off balance when they press him.
"He reminds me a bit of Sol Campbell with an alliance of strength, height and pace, but technically he is much more accomplished.
"He will come out from the back and attack the ball and it has occasionally caused problems, but he is only 21.
"There was a piece in L’Equipe about him saying that it would be his preference to go to England because he thinks it would suit him the best.
"Even though there is interest from Italy and the Spanish clubs, the suggestion is the Premier League is his preference.
"In terms of his own thoughts, I suspect we will see him in the Premier League sooner rather than later."
But while Liverpool are the leading club in the country at this moment in time, representing a big appeal for potential signings, there could be an issue with the Reds wanting to make a transfer move.
Williams explained: "He would not want to come in as third or fourth choice - he is looking for first-team football.
"At Liverpool, that would mean taking over from Joe Gomez, something they might not be able to offer immediately."
Liverpool could be in the market for a new defender this summer, but that would only likely be the case should Dejan Lovren move on, with Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip already at the club.
Convincing Upamecano to come to Anfield, though, could prove to be an impossible task.
