Francesco Totti runs the rule over Mohamed Salah ahead of Liverpool FC v AS Roma in the Champions League
Francesco Totti has admitted that Mohamed Salah will be Liverpool FC’s danger-man when the Reds host AS Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash on Tuesday night.
Salah has been one of the Premier League’s top performing players this season and he was recognised by his colleagues as he was voted as the PFA player of the year over the weekend.
The 25-year-old has scored a staggering 40 goals in all competitions for Liverpool FC and found the net once again in the 2-2 draw with West Brom at the weekend.
Salah will be expecting to line up against his former employers when Liverpool FC take on the Serie A side in the first leg of their semi-final clash at Anfield this week.
And AS Roma legend Totti has told the Italian side that they must be ready to come up against one of the in-form players in Europe this week.
Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website, Totti said: “This season I’ve seen a number of games of Liverpool, especially because Mo Salah is now playing there, I’ve been following it consistently.
“Especially after the draw, over the past few days I’ve been watching their Champions League games and I really think it’s going to be a tough game for both teams.
“To some extent, it surprises me that [Salah] has been doing so well in his first season at Liverpool.
“But, on the other hand, considering the quality of the squad, the coach they have – Klopp, to me, is one of the best coaches in the world – it didn’t surprise me.
“They put him in the condition to express himself at his best.”
Liverpool FC sealed a brilliant 5-1 aggregate win over Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals to book their place in the last four.
The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they seek qualification for next season’s Champions League once again.
