HEAD-TO-HEAD All-time meetings: Liverpool W3, Roma W1, D1
PREDICTION Liverpool may well have dropped two points to West Brom at the weekend, but it is fair to say that their focus lies on this Champions League semi-final clash with Roma. It is a draw that has paired Mohamed Salah against his former employers and the Egyptian will be looking to put his current club one step closer to next month’s final.
Roma are without doubt the surprise package in this season’s competition and after knocking out Barcelona in the quarter-finals they will be confident that they can go all the way and reach a first final since 1984.
It’s been 34 years since the club from the Italian capital made it all the way to the final, but they would lose at the final hurdle, and who was their opposition that year? It was none other than Liverpool, so perhaps there is some long-standing revenge ready to be dished out.
Liverpool disposed of Manchester City in the previous stage and will once again be looking to make a lightning fast start this evening, and should they do so then they could be too hot for Roma to handle. The Reds go into this game as favourites and you would imagine that they will live up to this billing.
