Matchday Six - Group A: Malkiya Club 1-2 Al Jazeera

The Jordanians took the lead halfway through the opening period after defender Gege Soriola fouled Musa Al Taamari inside the penalty box.

The Jordanian forward took the resulting spot-kick himself and emphatically scored his fourth goal of the campaign to break the deadlock.

The home crowd erupted as Malkiya drew level after a well-worked attacking move. Sayed Ali cut in from the right flank and supplied a short pass to Sayed Issa at the edge of the box.

The latter controlled and found Welid Al Teyeb in space inside the box, and Al Teyeb fired with his left beyond the Jordanian goalkeeper to equalise for the hosts seven minutes before the break.

The visitors restarted with renewed desire to seal the victory and within 11 minutes, they found the winner through Mardik Mardikian.

The Syrian international took advantage of poor goalkeeping to stab in the loose ball after Al Taamari’s corner kick was headed across the goalmouth by Yazan Al Arab.

Malkiya were reduced to 10 men in added time of the second half after Ali was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

The win meant Al Jazeera ended the group stage unbeaten and topped their group with 14 points, progressing to the next round. Malkiya’s maiden campaign ended with a respectable tally of seven points in third place.
