ECA suggests pushing the transfer dates

The European Club Association sent a letter to the European clubs highlighting the financial importance of postponing the transfer market this summer.
European football has been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic and the clubs are facing uncertain times both sporting wise and financially.
ECA, led by Andrea Agnelli, suggested pushing the transfer market, changing the existing dates according to the resumption of the respective Leagues.
“The business model of many European clubs will be based significantly on their operations in the transfer market,” ECA wrote in the letter, according to the Corriere dello Sport. “Therefore, it will be essential to move the transfer market this summer.
“The clubs must have the opportunity to use the market, not only to complete their squads, but more importantly, to make money from the operations they will conclude.”
The newspaper continues to underline that the duration of the upcoming market will not be changed from its original 16 weeks, but the opening and deadline dates will be pushed, waiting to see when the respective competitions resume play.
