Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig: Match Preview

Well-drilled and disciplined Wolves side stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven matches after coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 versus Union on incredibly stressful but ultimately rewarding weekend in Berlin.
Seven unbeaten games overall, five of those in the league, where the reawakened Wolves have shot up the table to the seventh step of Bundesliga ladder, breathing down Schalke 04’s neck with Europa League qualifications once more at the hand’s reach.
At Volkswagen Arena, Gisdol’s men are often tough to beat though there were times where their lack of bite in the final third has cost them dropped points against less lucrative opponents; their last game played here was 4-0 demolition of Mainz, a welcome change of pace for their fans, who got used to dire, uneventful outings with one or two goals deciding the winner.
An evenly matched contest between two good sides, with Leverkusen being the more dangerous of the two, ultimately ended on a stalemate, with Bayer and RBL splitting spoils in strangely calm and uneventful encounter at Red Bull Arena.
It was a result that extended RBL’s unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to five matches but also the one that benefited Bayern Munich the most as the Bavarians widened the gap on top over Red Bulls to three points.
Die Roten Bullen have left Gelsenkirchen in flames as they demolished wobbly Schalke 04, getting back on the winning track on the road though one would argue that their blip in overall near perfect form on the side was more due to strength of the opposition as Nagelsmann’s men have faced Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, getting away unscathed with Eintracht getting a critical hit on the Bulls, winning 2-0 during the closing days of January.
Jerome Roussillon and Josuha Guilavogui are back in the squad for Wolfsburg though their fitness levels are questionable. William and Ignacio Camacho remain on the sidelines, as well as Marin Pongračić, who has one more game to sit out after getting sent off in one of the previous matches.
No new names in Leipzig’s injury report, with Konrad Laimer, Tyler Adams, Kevin Kampl, Willi Orban and Ibrahima Konaté all staying out of Wolfsburg reckoning.

Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig: Head-to-head (h2h)

  • Overall Stats (11 games): Wolfsburg 3 wins, 2 draws, RB Leipzig 6 wins.
  • Wolfsburg have 1-1-2 record at home versus the Red Bulls.
  • Spoils were shared equally last time the two met in the league though RBL did blew Wolfsburg apart, winning 1-6 in DFB Pokal week or so later.
  • Leipzig’s Red Bulls are currently on a four-game unbeaten run v Die Wölfe.
  • Meisterschale hopefuls were also first to score in five of their last six showdowns.
  • The Wolves have trouble keeping the ball out of their net as Wolfsburg conceded at least a goal last four times they’ve played Die Roten Bullen.
  • Eight of their last ten games ended with fewer than 2.5 goals.

Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig: Prediction

When I mention these two words, Wolfsburg and home, first thing that cross my mind is Under. Chronic lack of goals. In this case, the bar is 3.5, the one neither of these fine sides will easily cross, if their previous encounters are anything to go by. Leipzig is more conservative on the road, and Wolfsburg being Wolfsburg…
For second recommendation, I’m willing to side with RB Leipzig. Their manager has great record in these “big” games, h2h is on their side and most important of all, should they wish to catch up to Bayern, the Red Bulls must beat anyone who cross their path.

Wolfsburg vs RB Leipzig: Betting tips

  • Under 3.5 goals @ 1.50
  • RB Leipzig to Win @ 1.91.
