TP Mazembe will look to overturn a 2-0 deficit when they host Raja Casablanca in Lubumbashi on Saturday afternoon, for the return leg of their CAF Champions League quarterfinal. Kick-off at Stade TP Mazembe is set for 15:00 CAT.
The first leg in Casablanca last weekend ended with Raja claiming an impressive two-goal victory, courtesy of strikes from Ben Malango and Badr Banoun. The Green Eagles will back themselves to do enough in DR Congo to secure progression, but the Ravens will have other ideas entirely.
“In the return match, there are players that we will recover. We will do everything to qualify at home,” said Mazembe coach Mihayo Kazembe.
“With the advance of the opponent, we know that it will not be easy but it is not impossible to turn the tide. Raja has scored two goals at home, we can score more than two goals at home. It will be our challenge.”
Raja counterpart Jamal Sellami also believes that the first-leg result, while a good one for his team, has not secured the tie.
“It’s very good but not decisive because there is a return match to play. As far as we are concerned, the fact of having aligned players without competition raised concerns for the balance of the team,” explained Sellami.
Ethiopian referee Bamlak Tessema Weyesa will take charge of the match in Lubumbashi. The winners of the tie will advance to face either Zamalek or Esperance de Tunis in the semifinals.
