Chelsea made Olivier Giroud’s goal just past the half-hour mark count, hanging on to the slim 1-0 lead in the second-half and collecting all three points.

Chelsea in fact played much better in the second half than in the first but were unable to add to the lead. Rudiger did have the ball in the back of the net, but it was rightly ruled out for offside. More importantly, the Blues kept Salah ultra-quiet (even got booked for a dive!) and in general controlled Liverpool’s much vaunted front three.

With the win, Chelsea are back in the thick of the action for the top four. Three points behind Liverpool with a game-in-hand, two points behind Spurs with two to play for both!

It’s going to be an exciting final week to the season!

Chelsea gave their top-four hopes a big boost with a 1-0 victory over Liverpool.

The visiting side edged the opening half-hour with Thibaut Courtois denying Sadio Mane twice.

But it was Chelsea who took the lead. Olivier Giroud headed in Victor Moses’s cross on 32 minutes.

Liverpool struggled to create chances after the break with Mohamed Salah unable to score a record 32nd goal.

The victory sent Chelsea within two points of Tottenham Hotspur and fourth place and within three of Liverpool, over whom they have a match in hand.
