The scientific committee’s verdict on the medical protocol for Serie A during the coronavirus pandemic has again been postponed to tomorrow.
The Government’s board of scientists and experts had rejected the first version of the protocol presented by the FIGC, considering it ‘insufficient.’
Changes were made and a new version put forward this week, but their verdict was expected yesterday or today.
According to the latest reports, we won’t know until tomorrow whether the Serie A sides will get the all-clear to begin training in groups.
The plan would be to resume contact training on May 18, which would then have them ready to start playing games again in early June.
The main sticking point remains what to do if a player or member of staff tests positive for COVID-19 after contact training has begun.
If they were to go with the Government protocol, that would mean quarantining the entire squad for 14 days rather than just the figure who tested positive.
At the moment, Serie A players are allowed to train in the club centres, but with social distancing guidelines in place.
