Spadafora: 'Sport resumes, one step at a time'

Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora is waiting for the imminent response on the medical protocol, as Serie A will ‘return one step at a time.’
The coronavirus pandemic shut all sport down in early March and we’re almost two months into the lockdown, but training resumed on an individual level for most Italian top flight teams this week.
“We will imminently learn the verdict of the scientific committee on the FIGC’s medical protocol,” said Spadafora in a Facebook video.
“We are also ready to propose guidelines to the committee for training sessions involving all team sports and guidelines to open up facilities, including gyms, swimming pools and dance halls, that will allow all those who work in sport to resume their activities.
“Finally, we are also working with the Ministry for Education, for Equal Opportunities and Families to reopen sporting facilities, so we can guarantee a summer of sport for the youngest members of our society.
“So, one step at a time, sport will return. It’ll be stronger than ever.”
If the latest FIGC medical protocol is given the all-clear, it’s likely squads will be able to train together from May 18.
That would then put the restart of Serie A fixtures to June 2-14.
