Cairo giants Al Ahly have announced their rejection of the participation of first team winger Ahmed El-Sheikh in FIFA 2020 e-Games – PlayStation Online tournament representing Egypt.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have announced that Egypt have been drawn with Turkey, Israel and Romania in the same group for the FIFA 2020 e-Games – PlayStation Online tournament between the 21st and 25th of April.
EFA stated that Egypt shall be represented by Olympiacos forward Ahmed Hassan Kouka and Al Ahly winger Ahmed El-Sheikh, in addition to Ramy Saad who is ranked no. 21 globally and Islam Samy ranked who is no. 432 globally in the Playstation game.
However, Al Ahly director of football Sayed Abdel-Hafiz stated that the authority responsible for the tournament have not informed the club about El-Sheikh’s participation.
“These things require other criteria the club has to be aware of them in order to take the adequate decision.”
By his turn, El-Sheikh has declared himself his rejection of participating in the online tournament following the conclusion of the draw.
The tournament comes amid a period of inactivity all over the world due to the outbreak of coronavirus on a global scale. The football’s world governing body decided that the return of the tournament will be directed to the most affected people from the pandemic.
