Barcelona were close to a deal for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, claim Sky Sport Italia, but the pandemic has ground everything to a complete halt.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio said that the two clubs had been in advanced negotiations, which would’ve seen at least one player move from Camp Nou to San Siro along with cash to get Lautaro Martinez.
However, with the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, football shut down and every club saw its finances hit hard.
Because of this, Inter are now only prepared to accept the €111m release clause if they are to sell Lautaro Martinez this summer.
Barcelona no longer feel able to pay the full sum, especially as the clause has it written in that it must be paid in full within a week of its activation.
Manchester United, Real Madrid and Manchester City would also struggle to manage the transfer on those terms.
Barca had been hoping to cut the cost down with the inclusion of players, such as Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic.
