Leon Bailey’s Bayern move a possibility after Robbery era

Bayern Munich are apparently playing a longer game to sign Leon Bailey than initially reported.

Bild’s latest update on potential summer transfers (reported by TZ) claims that Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey will be a target for the German champions only after the upcoming season. At present, Bayern Munich have a rich squad, as described by the executives, since Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry will be joining the team, and there are no major transfers around the corner.
After the 2018/19 season, when both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery leave Munich, Bayern will have an urgent need for a new signing and, according to the report, Bayern hope to bring in the Jamaican winger to fill the spot left by the Dutchman. Bild dispute the earlier report that Bayern had already bid €60 million for the Jamaican star.
Leverkusen anticipate selling Bailey for a larger amount and prefer a sale to Real Madrid. The Werkself have reportedly contacted the Portuguese football agent Jose Mendes to discuss the chances of the youngster’s move to Spain. However, as of now, Bayern's management maintain a strong interest in the 20 year old. Since Uli Hoeness has clearly stated that Bayern will not invest in a major transfer this season, it seems that Bayern will not take a closer look at Bailey’s files until the end of the 2018/19 season.
