Team News

  • Columbus Crew have no reason to make wholesale changes to the side that beat New England 2-0 last time out. They aren't expected to recover any of their injured players.
  • Toronto could still be without Drew Moor, Ashtone Morgan and Clint Irwin for their trip to Seattle.
  • Clint Irwin returned between the sticks in their last match and should remain in goal against the Columbus Crew.
  • Chris Mavinga also returned to the starting XI after nearly a month out injured to provide Toronto with a further boost.
  • Sebastian Giovinco wasn't with the squad for their 1-0 win over Seattle Sounders last time out but Toronto will want their talisman back this time around.

Columbus Crew vs Toronto: Preview and Predictions

Columbus Crew vs Toronto F.C
Major League Soccer
Date: Thursday, 11th May 2017
Kick off at 00:30 UK/ 01:30 CET
Venue: MAPFRE Stadium.
The MLS Cup runners-up have been fantastic over the last couple of weeks and they will come in the game with Columbus in great spirits after picking up four consecutive wins.
The hosts will also enter the match in a positive atmosphere after ending the negative run by claiming a 2-0 win over New England on Sunday.
Columbus Crew
The manager Gregg Berhalter was thrilled to see his team keeping a clean sheet after they allowed five goals in back-to-back defeats to both New York teams.
The Norwegian striker Ola Makara opened the season in a decent way as he notched six goals in 10 opening games. He was just the one who broke the deadlock in the win over New England Revolution at the weekend and he will be the man to look after this Wednesday as well.
Toronto
The Canadians managed to take a revenge for the loss in the last term’s MLS Cup final on Saturday evening.
The win over Seattle Sounders gets even more on its significance if we know that Greg Vanney could not use his star man Sebastian Giovinco.
Vanney, however, has another predator in the final third in the like of Jozy Altidore who made the difference netting the only goal of the game. The US striker thus took his league tally to six goals since the start of the season.

Columbus Crew vs Toronto: Head to head

Columbus Crew have been more successful historically as they lead the head to head tie by eight wins.
This will be the second H2H meeting between the two teams in this season of MLS. Crew took a 2-1 win on the home patch some 20 days ago when Ola Kamara and Justin Meram secured a comeback after Altidore’s opener for the Canadians.

Columbus Crew vs Toronto: Prediction

Toronto are in a much better mood at the moment and we can easily see them extending the positive run this Wednesday at MAPFRE Stadium.
The bookies, interestingly, consider Columbus as slight favourites and it is something we will take advantage of and back the away win at 23/10 as the top betting prediction.
