Seoul: Urawa Red Diamonds finished as Group F winners in the 2017 AFC Champions League to set up a Round of 16 clash against Jeju United, despite losing 1-0 to FC Seoul on Wednesday.
The hosts were already eliminated from the competition and Urawa assured of progression to the knockout stage, but Yoon Seung-won struck the only goal of the game in the 38th minute at Seoul World Cup Stadium, tucking into an unguarded net after Lee Seok-hyun had run onto a Maurinho through ball and squared into his path after luring Tetsuya Enomoto out of his goal.
With Shanghai SIPG also losing 3-2 away to Western Sydney Wanderers in Group F’s other game, both Urawa and Shanghai finished on 12 points apiece. But the J.League side hung onto top spot, edging the Chinese Super League outfit courtesy of their head-to-head record. Shanghai will now face Jiangsu FC in the next round, after their fellow Chinese side finished top of Group H.
