Sydney: Wu Lei scored the third fastest goal of the AFC Champions League era on Wednesday but it was not enough to stop Shanghai SIPG falling to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Western Sydney Wanderers.
Wu scored after just 21 seconds to give Shanghai the lead but goals from Jumpei Kusukami and Steven Lustica over the next five-and-a-half minutes put Wanderers in front until Elkeson levelled from the penalty spot midway through a frantic first-half.
Jaushua Sotirio struck with just over a minute remaining to give Wanderers the win, meaning Shanghai finish in second in Group F and will take on fellow Chinese Super League side Jiangsu FC in the Round of 16.
