Harrisburg, Pa (May 5, 2017) – The Harrisburg City Islanders are set to travel to New Jersey and take on the New York Red Bulls II this Saturday, May 6 at MSU Soccer Park.
This is the second meeting between the two clubs this season. In their first match-up, Harrisburg came away from Red Bulls arena with an upset of the 2016 USL champs in a 1-0 victory with a goal from Manolo Sanchez in the 62nd minute.
Sanchez got the game-winning goal after maneuvering around Red Bulls’ goalie Michael Amir Murillo and sliding the ball into the back of the net to beat his former club.
Since the loss to the Islanders, the Red Bulls have gone 1-1-1, but have not won away from their home stadium yet this season. Harrisburg holds the only shutout of the season against the Red Bulls II, who have averaged almost two goals a game this season.
The City Islanders win in New York was the start of a three-game undefeated streak, which ended in their last outing against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
The Islanders will be without the services of Abass Mohammed and Brandon Miller for the matchup in New Jersey. Both players received red cards in the Pittsburgh game and as a result, have to serve a one-game suspension.
Harrisburg has been strong on defense this season with one shutout and three matches where they only surrendered one goal. Conversely, the offense needs a resurgence to bolster the defensive efforts. Players like Sanchez, Aaron Wheeler, and Paul Wilson will need to step up their attacks to give the team the best chance to win in the game.
Kick off for tomorrow’s match is slated for 4 p.m. (EST). Catch the action on the USL Match Center and use #NYvHAR to share your thoughts and comments!
Harrisburg and New York are set for one more match on City Island at FNB Field on Wednesday, July 12 at 7 p.m. The next match at FNB Field is Saturday, May 20 at 7 p.m. against the Charleston Battery and then again on Wednesday, May 24 for the second match against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
