Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez has talked about the comparisons made between the Algerian and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
Mahrez had joined Manchester City from Leicester City in 2018 for a transfer fee of £60m which made him the most expensive African player at that time.
The 29-year-old’s contributions have helped Manchester City win two League Cup titles, the Premier League, and the FA Cup.
Speaking to beIN Sports, Mahrez commented on the comparisons between him and Salah, saying it does not affect him.
“The comparisons between me and Salah are part of the competition,” Mahrez said. “He’s been performing well since arriving in the Premier League.
“We are two different players, it’s just comparisons made by fans that I don’t care much about,” he continued.
The Algeria captain also went on to discuss their 2019 African Cup of Nations triumph last summer.
“Winning the Africa Cup of Nations was great for me, my teammates, and all my country. Our goal was to make our country happy and proud of us.”
