Javier Aguirre on Salah: He has no breathing room

Former  manager  said that Salah is constantly under a lot of pressure especially when he’s with the national team as he’s the main figure.
Aguirre took charge of the Egyptian national team in 2018 and was sacked less than a year later after exiting the 2019 AFCON in the quarter-finals against South Africa.
Talking to ESPN, the Leganes manager discussed coaching Liverpool star  during his time with the Pharaohs.

Aguirre praised the former Roma man for his work ethic and for his personality outside of the pitch. He also discussed the amount of pressure he endures due to his importance within the national team
“It would surprise you what a good lad he is, how noble: he’s the first to the team talks, the first in the gyms, the most serious. There’s a question, though: he’s the best player in Africa, with Sadio Mane, and he’s Muslim too. And carrying those two labels, with the pressure that brings, it’s very, very hard. He has no breathing room,” said the 61-year-old.
“In England, he can be happy: there are 17 other players. But he sets foot in Egypt and it’s madness. He’s a lovely lad, delightful; the difficulty is everything that goes around him, the pressure. He has to be careful about the tiniest thing. He’s so pure, so innocent too; he doesn’t have that touch of picaresque that Argentinians or Uruguayans have. He’s transparent, honest, straight. Like English football, in fact,”he continued.
During his 12 games in charge of Egypt, Aguirre lost just twice, drew once and won the remaining nine. During that time, Salah missed just four of these games and made 10 direct goal contributions (six goals and four assists).

Salah hasn’t represented the Pharaohs since the Mexican’s departure as he missed the last two training camps under new manager, Hossam El-Badry.
