TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Roster update
Atlanta United announced a pair of roster moves on Thursday. The club extended Jon Gallagher's loan to Aberdeen FC to the end of the Scottish season and mutually agreed to terminate the contract of Dion Pereira.
Gallagher, 23, has yet to make his MLS debut after being selected with the No. 14 pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. He has made 27 appearances across all competitions with Aberdeen so far this season. Periera, 20, was acquired by Atlanta last offseason and made seven starts in MLS.
“After speaking with Dion, we agreed that this was the best solution as he expressed an interest in returning to England for personal reasons,” ATL VP and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a club statement. “We thank Dion for his contributions to the club and wish him the best moving forward.”
The move gives clarity to a pair of young players for 2020, while neither were key members of the starting XI. The club currently have 21 players rostered for next season as the club soon report for preseason ahead of the Concacaf Champions League kicking off next month.
