Celta Vigo welcome Deportivo La Coruna in the Galician derby where both teams look to salvage some pride.
The Celticos are bound to end up in the mid-table after a series of underwhelming performances in recent weeks. The 1-4 loss to Villarreal serve as the final nail to the coffin of Europa League group stage qualification.
Still, they could grab the single Europa League play-off spot available in the league with 7th placed Getafe at an achievable 4 point gap.
Celta’s form coming into this game is nothing but disastrous as they are win-less in the last four as well as only 1 win came from their last 8 league games. However, home form looks decent with the team’s last defeat at the Balaidos dated back to December 2017. The only problem is that they drew 5 of the games in that 9 match unbeaten run here.
Meanwhile, things are done and dusted for Deportivo this season as they got relegated after the 2-4 home loss to Barcelona last Sunday. The team sit at 18th in the table and managed only 28 points so far.
They did have some bright moments in recent weeks when they picked 2 wins and 2 draws from four games. But, they were already in a non-recoverable due to extremely poor first half of the season.
Celta Vigo vs Deportivo La Coruna: Head-to-head
- Celta Vigo won the last three meetings with Deportivo.
- They are unbeaten in the last four at home as well, 2 wins and 2 draws.
- Celta’s recent home record against Deportivo 6 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses from 14 matches.
Celta Vigo vs Deportivo La Coruna: Predictions
The hosts are desperate for three points while the visitors are playing to salvage some pride.
This is a derby match, but that’s all right, Celta still look the better side with two prolific strikers Iago Aspas and Maxi Gomez up front and a solid home form. They drew Barcelona and Valencia in the most recent two games here before thrashing Sevilla 4-0. They could bag three point here and inflict further pain on already relegated Deportivo.
