Middlesbrough vs Sunderland: Preview and Predictions

Middlesbrough vs Sunderland Match Preview 26th April 2017

Middlesbrough vs Sunderland
English Premier League
Date: Wednesday, 26th April 2017
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Riverside Stadium.
Middlesbrough and Sunderland will most likely play the head to head clashes in the second tier of English football next season because both sides need a miracle to secure the survival in the elite.
The safe zone is nine points away from Middlesbrough who have five games left to play until the end of the season. The Black Cats have a game in hand, but they are three points below Boro at the very foot of the Premier League standings.
Middlesbrough
Steve Agnew could not do much to save the team as the demolishing 4-0 victory to AFC Bournemouth at the weekend meant the goodbye to the elite for Boro.
To be fair, they did not deserve to stay in the top flight of English football since the team is winless in last 16 league matches.
Sunderland
The situation is quite similar with the Black Cats who managed to pick up only a single win in last 18 Premier League outings.
Unlike Boro, Sunderland did not replace the head coach as David Moyes is the man responsible for leading the team to the Championship.
On the bright side, the Black Cats finally managed to find the back of the net after seven consecutive matches, but it still was not enough for the win as they only drew 2-2 with West Ham United in their last league fixture.

Middlesbrough vs Sunderland: Head to head

Sunderland have been much better historically in head to head meetings with Middlesbrough.
However, Boro came out victorious from last two encounters between the two sides including the one from Stadium of Light in this term of Premier League.

Middlesbrough vs Sunderland: Prediction

It is hard to say which of the two teams will end their negative streaks.
The draw might seem to be the best of the betting options, while we’ll also back the Under 2.5 goals since none of the two managers can be especially proud of their attacking lines.
