Nanjing: A stunning Lee Chang-min strike handed Jeju United a 2-1 away victory over Jiangsu FC in Group H of the 2017 AFC Champions League on Tuesday.
Having already qualified for the last 16 as group winners, Jiangsu captain Ramires opened the scoring after 27 minutes at Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre, heading home powerfully from an Alex Teixeira corner. But the lead lasted just seven minutes as Magno Cruz lofted the ball over advancing goalkeeper Gu Chao after a fine through ball from Jin Sung-wook.
Lee then completed the turnaround for his side shortly after half-time, finding the far corner from 25 yards after a clever layoff from Cruz. Ramires went close in the game’s final moments, but could not prevent Jiangsu falling to a first defeat in this year’s competition.
The result moved Jeju to second place in the standings - two points ahead of third-placed Adelaide United, who drew 3-3 with Gamba Osaka in Tuesday's other Group H encounter - and leaves them knowing that a win from their final fixture against Gamba will seal their qualification to the Round of 16.
