Rangers' SPFL rivals Hibs forced to take drastic financial measures

Rangers’ Scottish Premiership rivals Hibs have taken the decision the majority of their full-time staff, including players amid the domestic league shutdown.
The decision to furlough the staff comes after Celtic revealed they were going to furlough staff on the British government-funded initiative earlier in the week.
In a statement on the Easter Road club’s website, chief executive Leann Dempster revealed the decision was taken by mutual consent and with the intention to “protect this club for the future”.

“The Chairman has said that the club will repay any shortfall in earnings over an agreed period once things return to normal.
“The club hopes that taking this action early will ease some of the cashflow pressure we are facing now and in the coming months, allowing us to see this national crisis out without losing any of our people and keeping the club in a good place to compete when football does return to Easter Road.”
A number of Scottish clubs have been forced to take action amid the domestic league shutdown with Hearts asking all staff to take a 50% wage cut and Aberdeen predicting a £5m loss.
Outgoing Rangers chairman revealed that planned investment had been put on hold during the domestic league shutdown but the club has moved quickly to assure fans plans to secure the necessary funding for the season are “well advanced”.
