Ahly close to extending stay of Swiss coach Weiler, says assistant coach Sesa

Weiler, who joined the Cairo giants at the beginning of the current season, has had an outstanding performance with the Reds

Ahly’s management is close to reaching an agreement with Swiss coach Rene Weiler to extend his stay with the team, according to the assistant coach David Sesa.
"Weiler spoke with Ahly's chairman Mahmoud El-Khatib about the contract extension and the talks were positive," Sesa told the club's TV channel.
"The two sides initially agreed to complete the adventure,"
"It is an honour for us [the technical staff members] to work with a team like Ahly,"
"But the final decision about the contract extension is in hands of El-Khatib and Weiler, as they are the decision makers."
In March, all Egyptian football activities were suspended indefinitely over the worldwide coronavirus outbreak.
Weiler, who joined the Cairo giants at the beginning of the current season, has had an outstanding performance with the Reds, leading the team in 31 games, losing in two matches, tying in four, and winning 25.
Until the suspension of sports activities, holders Ahly were strong candidates for the title this season as they currently lead the league table with 49 points from 17 matches, 16 points ahead of second placed Arab Contractors.
