Egyptian football star and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was recently listed among the highest-paid athletes of 2019 by the American magazine Forbes, with the player’s earnings valued at US$25.1 million.
The list takes into account the athletes’ salaries, rewards, and sponsorship contracts.
Salah ranked 98th on the top 100 list, with Argentinian star and Barcelona player Lionel Messi topping the list at US$127 million.
Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo came in second at US$109 million, with Brazilian football star Neymar coming in third with earnings valued at US$105 million.
In fourth place was Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez at US$94 million, with tennis champ Roger Federer coming in at fifth with earnings of US$93 million.
Meanwhile, the total earnings made by the top 100 highest-paid athletes in 2019 was equivalent to US$4 billion, up by 5 percent from 2018.
