Fathi’s contract with Al Ahly expires by the end of the current 2019/2020. The veteran right back was set to meet the Red Devil’s management last week but the meeting was postponed after he went on a break with his family.
Meanwhile, Ramadan Sobhi is on a loan stint at the club from English Championship outfit Huddersfield Town.
However, the 23-year-old’s situation with Al Ahly remains vague due to the uncertainty surrounding all leagues worldwide amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Al Ahly have decided a meeting on Monday with Fathi. The indications are good. As long as he is at the club then he is always close,” Shawky told ON Time Sport channel.
“There are no disagreements. Fathi is not against sitting on the table and negotiating, instead he could wait until the end of the season and see what will happen.”
“[Regarding Ramadan Sobhi] we await FIFA and the English Football Association’s decision regarding the loan deals and what will happen about the season. Nobody in the world knows anything.”
“With that said, of course any player at Ramadan’s age would aim to play abroad,” he concluded.
