Mainz vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Preview and Predictions

Mainz vs Eintracht Frankfurt Bundesliga Match Preview 13th May 2017
1. FSV Mainz 05 vs Eintracht Frankfurt
German Bundesliga
Date: Saturday, 13th May 2017
Kick-off at 14:30 UK / 15:30 CET
Venue: Opel Arena, Mainz.
After the goalless draw in Hamburg, FSV Mainz welcome Eintracht Frankfurt at Opel Arena. Eintracht’s season is over, at least in Bundesliga terms as Niko Kovac’s men will meet Borussia Dortmund in DFB Pokal final – the match that could save the season for Frankfurt.
On the others side, 05ers are in the horrible situation since they will fight for survival in the remaining two fixtures.

1. FSV Mainz 05

The hosts are just above the relegation play-off spot with 34 points, the even count as Hamburger SV but 05ers are better positioned due to the goal difference. FSV Mainz are facing serious competition in the survival race as FC Augsburg, VfL Wolfsburg, Hamburger SV and FC Ingolstadt are all dragged into the relegation battle.
The 05ers are three games without a win. In 16 games at Opel Arena this season, Mainz registered the same number of victories and defeats (6) along with 4 draws.

Eintracht Frankfurt

Despite the brilliant performances in the first part of the season, Eintracht are in the lower part of the table now with 41 points, only enough for the 11th position. It is clear that Niko Kovac’s side has lost interest in the domestic competition, especially since they reached the DFB Pokal final and opportunity for European football next season in the case of a win.
Eintracht are in horrible form, especially in the matches away from Commerzbank-Arena. They were easily beaten in the last six Bundesliga meetings on the road, managing to score only one goal during the negative run.

Mainz vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Head-to-head

Eintracht beat Mainz in the last two meetings in Frankfurt. However, 05ers have never allowed Eintracht to beat them on home turf.

Mainz vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Prediction

The Croatian expert Niko Kovac and his men are completely focused on the German Cup final against BVB so he might rotate in order to avoid injuries ahead of the match of the season. FSV Mainz probably won’t be happy with a draw, but they certainly won’t take all the cards out and rush for the victory as the offensive approach could easily backfire, and the stakes are pretty high.
