Both teams will come in the game in a decent mood after ending their negative runs last weekend.
The match will, however, not have a significant importance for any of the two sides who have nowhere to go in the final two rounds of the season in Primera Division.
Espanyol
Espanyol recovered from a defeat to Barcelona in the Catalan derby with the away win over Deportivo la Coruna at Riazor.
It was the first win in four games for Quique Sanchez Flores and his men who have generally enjoyed a solid campaign throughout the season.
Valencia
The Bats have had a rollercoaster season full of ups and downs. The team struggled a lot at the very bottom of the standings under Cesare Prandelli at the start of the campaign.
Salvador Voro managed to raise the level of Valencia’s game and lead the team to the top half of the standings.
However, the team from Mestalla did not manage to keep that level as they lost three on the trot before the last weekend’s drubbing of the rock-bottomed Osasuna on the home patch.
Espanyol vs Valencia: Head to head
Valencia have been slightly more successful in H2H stats winning 20 out of 47 meetings with Espanyol. The hosts took 18 wins.
Most of the recent clashes between the two sides ended with at least three goals. The Bats have three wins in last four games with Espanyol, but the hosts claimed three consecutive victories in matches at RCDE Stadium.
Espanyol vs Valencia: Prediction
Espanyol have been superb on the home pitch throughout the entire season. They do have two losses on the trot there, but against the likes of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.
Voro’s side lost five of the last six matches away from Mestalla and we must see the value in backing Espanyol to win this match with clear conviction.
