Bayern Munich and Leroy Sané have agreed on a five-year contract, Sport Bild reports. Now, with personal terms out of the way, Bayern has supposedly opened talks with Manchester City in an effort to drive down Sané’s transfer fee.
Sport Bild claims Bayern has made an opening bid of €40 million, which would be far below the €100 million or more that the club was prepared to pay last season. In fact, it is €10 million less than what City itself paid Schalke in 2016!
Bayern believes that Sané’s personal commitment to the transfer will put additional pressure on City to sell him at a steep discount. Sport Bild claims that Bayern will consider any deal under €60 million a major success.
Sané remains Bayern’s primary transfer target — ahead of Kai Havertz, a claim corroborated independently by SPOX. Bayer Leverkusen’s has not backed down from its €100 million asking price, despite the coronavirus crisis.
