Egyptian Football Association (EFA) member Mohamed Fadl has revealed their plans for the Egyptian Premier League this season amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The Egyptian Premier League has been suspended since March as the number of COVID-19 cases in Egypt continues to rise, reaching more than 4,000 cases.
However, the EFA’s vice president had disclosed two weeks ago that they do not plan on cancelling the league due to sponsorships and economic matters.
Speaking to ON Time Sports on Sunday, Mohamed Fadl confirmed that the EFA are preparing for the possibility of a league resumption this season.
“We do not have any intention to cancel the league this season, but health comes first,” Fadl said.
“We have a plan to resume the league when football returns. The plan is ready with the names of stadiums, hotels, and hospitals lined up. We are only waiting for the green light from the authorities to proceed.”
Fadl also went on to discuss the EFA’s plans if they were to cancel the Egyptian Premier League this season.
“In the event of cancelling the league during the middle of the season, there will be no champion,” he added.
