Toronto FC joins Team Toronto Fund as city rallies around event staff

Toronto FC are part of the five major professional sports teams in The Six joining the Team Toronto Fund to help financially support event and game day staff.
The decision comes during the coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic, which has MLS on a 30-day game suspension. A team training moratorium has also been extended through Friday, March 20, and applies to first teams, reserve sides and academies.
“Toronto FC is committed to assisting the people who help make our games at BMO Field possible,” said Toronto FC president Bill Manning in a statement. “Our team motto for TFC is ‘All For One. This slogan says it all, and we are proud to do our part along with the Maple Leafs, Raptors, Jays and Argos to help as we get through this challenging time.”
The fund is led by team presidents from the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, NBA’s Toronto Raptors, MLB’s Toronto Blue Jays and CFL’s Toronto Argonauts. Each team, except for the Blue Jays, is owned by Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment.

As part of Team Toronto Fund, front-office members, coaches and players from each team will contribute to support staffers who are instrumental to game days operating smoothly.
