We should have been watching Champions League last 16 second leg action tonight, but we aren’t.
Here’s what may have happened if Tuesday’s games hadn’t been suspended by the coronavirus …
Juventus dumped out by Lyon thanks to last gasp Ronaldo own goal
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Juve made the perfect start against Lyon when Cristiano Ronaldo fired home to level the tie after just two minutes.
Half-time came and went and with 75 minutes on the clock, Ronaldo then bagged his second of the night to put the Bianconeri 2-1 up on aggregate and set their co-ordinates for the quarter-final.
But deep into stoppage time the visitors were awarded a corner and as the ball came into the box, Lyon’s Bruno Guimarães appeared to whisper something in Ronaldo’s ear.
It meant the Juve man mis-timed his jump and to the dismay of the home crowd, his attempt at a clearing header flew past Gianluigi Buffon and into the net for an incredible own goal.
OL go through to the last eight on away goals and in an interview on the pitch at the full-time whistle, an elated Guimarães revealed what he said to put his compatriot off.
“I told him I’ve never rated him and Lionel Messi has always been better,” he said.
Oh Cristiano, it seems Messi really does live rent-free inside your head.
Unlikely hero Scotty beams City into the quarter-final
Manchester City are through to the quarter-final thanks to an extraordinary last minute winner from third choice GOALKEEPER Scott Carson.
City boss Pep Guardiola must have been watching old Stuart Pearce videos before the game because with his side trailing 2-1 heading into extra-time of the second leg, he made the extraordinary decision to take off İlkay Gündoğan and throw substitute goalie Carson on up front.
And moments later, the 34-year-old – making his first appearance for the club – repaid his manager’s faith by volleying in the winning goal from 25-yards.
What an extraordinary night of Gazprom.
