With Newcastle close to a takeover by a Saudi-backed consortium, their prospective new owners will implement a lot of changes within the club, which will include a big-name manager.
According to ESPN’s Julien Laurens, they have compiled a four-name shortlist, including Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre.
Former Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino, Former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri, and former Newcastle and current Dalian Yifang FC boss Rafa Benítez are the other candidates reportedly being considered.
It’s believed that Pochettino, who is a free agent spending his time in his native Argentina, is the current favourite.
As for Favre, Newcastle would be forced to pay Dortmund some compensation should they sign him as Favre signed a one-year extension with the club before the season started to keep him with the German giants until summer 2021.
However, there are rumours that Favre could face the sack this season should they not overcome Bayern and win the Bundesliga title.
