Jan Vertonghen denies he has already decided to sign a new contract with Tottenham, so could join Inter as a free agent. “I want to play in Europe and learn another language.”
The defender will be 33 on Friday and his deal with Spurs expires at the end of this season, but it seems reports of an extension are premature.
“I want to sign with the right club. It could be Spurs, or another club,” he told Play Sports Kot on YouTube.
“It must be a club with ambition. I want to play in Europe, as the national team is important for me.”
According to HNL writer Kristof Terreur, Vertonghen specified that Italy and Spain were among the options he was looking at, especially as he’d like to learn another language.
“It might sound weird, but since the coronavirus crisis there has been more interest. I’m a free agent and some clubs might not have a lot of money.”
