Villarreal bagged a precious point in the six pointer for Europe League spots against Sevilla on the weekend. But the manager Javier Calleja is concerned after seeing his team squander a 2 goal lead in the final 12 minutes of the game.
The Yellow Submarine remain 1 point clear-off Sevilla on 7th spot and they need to push hard from here. The like of Girona, Celta Vigo are just 5 points away and they have some tough round of fixtures to finish the season with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia yet to come.
Leganes defeated Celta Vigo 1-0 on the weekend and moved 13 points clear off the relegation zone. They must avoid drop from here and I see one more point from remaining six games will keep them above the bottom three come May.
The Legionaries are arguably one of the worst away side in the league having won just 3 games on the road all season. Their last away win was at Malaga on 15th October 2017. They lost 9 and drew 3 since then. So, they are the kind of team that offer no threat to home teams.
Villarreal vs Leganes: Head-to-head
The meetings between these two sides are often competitive. The three La Liga meetings saw 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss.
Earlier this season, Leganes surprised everyone with a 3-1 win over the established yellow submarine.
The teams again met in the Copa Del Rey in January and Leganes once again knocked out the team in yellow on away goal rule, 1-0 at home and 2-1 at the Ceramica.
Still, Villarreal are on a three match winning run against Leganes in all competitions, with 2 goals scored in each.
Villarreal vs Leganes: Predictions
The Yellow Submarine have been inconsistent throughout the season and are coming on the back of 2 wins and 3 losses from their last 5 home fixtures. They are on a three match win-less run overall and must back themselves to win against a side like Leganes. The reason being the poor away record of the visitors whose last win on the road dated back to October and lost 9 of their next 12 games.
