MLS teams share social justice statements from the training ground

Major League Soccer teams have taken to social media to show solidarity for Juneteenth, a holiday celebrating the end of slavery in the United States. The messages have largely come at full-team training with a collective knee and raised fist for Black Lives Matter.

Although has been long celebrated in the Black community, this monumental event remains largely unknown. This must change. And it starts by educating ourselves on the historical legacy of the day. Today and moving forward, we honor & recognize Juneteenth as a holiday.

Forever Free.

On June 19, 1865 orders were read by Union general Gordon Granger that all slaves were proclaimed free. That day has become known as Juneteenth.

Juneteenth is not currently recognized as a Federal holiday, help us change that.

Today, our entire squad and coaching staff volunteered at the Community Resource Center making household preparedness kits for families in need.
