Nigeria-eligible defender Nnamdi Collins has ended speculation over his Borussia Dortmund future by signing a new contract with the German Bundesliga side.
Chelsea and Manchester City were heavily linked with a move for the Germany U16 international but he has chosen to continue his career with Borussia Dortmund, whom he joined from Fortuna Düsseldorf in July 2016.
Collins' new deal will see him remain at Dortmund until at least the end of the 2022-2023 season.
The 16-year-old has expressed his happiness at extending his stay at Borussia Dortmund and is aiming to make his professional debut for the Black and Yellows in the coming years.
He told Borussia Dortmund's official webpage : "I've now been playing for BVB since I was 12 and I owe the club a lot. My objective is to turn professional at BVB and to play in front of the South Stand at some point.
"I'm really thankful for the way that all of my previous coaches, my family and my advisors have supported me, and I'm really looking forward to the coming years at BVB."
Though Collins remains eligible for Borussia Dortmund U17s, he will represent their U19 team in the 2020-2021 campaign.
