Aberdeen chief Dave Cormack prepared to offer excellent Pittodrie gesture

Aberdeen chairman Dave Cormack is willing to allow Pittodrie to be opened as a potential testing facility during the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Dons chief is willing to do his bit to aid the fight in the north against the disease, which has forced lockdowns on countries worldwide.
It is unclear at this stage when football will be able to resume, but it is safe to assume it could well be a case of months.

Many clubs will suffer financially as a result of the football being suspended, with clubs in Scotland hugely dependent on matchday income.
Aberdeen, like others, will be taking a financial hit, but despite that and the pressures it brings, Cormack is determined to try and help during a very challenging period for everyone.
He said (official website): “Aberdeen Football Club has been at the heart of our community for over 100 years.
“Today, we stand ready to do whatever we can to assist the community in what is a rapidly escalating, unprecedented situation.

“Our response to the crisis facing us is one of solidarity and support.
“We have drawn up a battle plan which will allow us to provide practical support to those who need it most and to bring our fans and the community together in our fight against the virus.

Cormack deserves great credit

The strain could potentially become huge over the next few weeks, so it is brilliant of the Dons chairman to offer the services of the club’s stadium.
The club will also be working with Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE) to make food deliveries to support children during the school closures, and making regular check‐ins over the phone with fans in isolation – which is a brilliant touch.
