Manchester United are making plans for a stunning double swoop to bring both Jack Grealish AND James Maddison to Old Trafford this summer, reports claim.
The Red Devils are said to be planning for life without Paul Pogba, who they are hoping to ship out at the end of the season.
It was recently claimed United are open to offers for the French midfielder after his injury-hit season and have cut their asking price to around £150m to tempt interested clubs into a deal.
And, according to The Sun, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plans to reinvest those funds into a big-money move to sign two of the most promising midfield talents in England.
United have been linked with a strong interest in Grealish and Maddison, who have enjoyed superb seasons in the Premier League with Aston Villa and Leicester.
But while it was recently suggested the club has chosen Grealish as their number one summer target, it is now claimed they want to bring BOTH players to Old Trafford when the summer transfer window opens.
Maddison, 23, has opened talks with Leicester over a new contract, but a £90m move to United would see him command a salary of £200,000-a-week – double the money on offer at the King Power Stadium.
Meanwhile, it is widely accepted £70m-rated Villa captain Grealish will leave his boyhood club in the summer, certainly if they are relegated from the Premier League.
And The Sun claim Man United are hoping the midfield duo’s close friendship will work in their favour; Grealish and Maddison, with his Foxes team-mate Ben Chilwell, spent the Premier League’s winter break together in Dubai.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to continue his rebuilding job at Old Trafford this summer, following the January arrival of Bruno Fernandes.
And he has received backing from executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who said at a recent fans’ forum: “As part of the rebuild we see this summer as an important opportunity.”f
