WHY WEST HAM WOULD BE WISE TO MAKE A MOVE FOR THIS £21.25M-RATED CHELSEA MAN

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern had high hopes for Michy Batshuayi, but those have steadily faded this season…
The Belgian has struggled to impress under Antonio Conte, with the Italian seemingly not rating his second-choice striker – with Diego Costa often afforded a starting berth over him. It would make sense, then, for Chelsea to cash in on the striker this summer – and perhaps West Ham should consider a move.
After all, you might remember that West Ham were keen on the Belgian prior to his move to Chelsea, so Slaven Bilic was clearly a fan of his talent. Known for his lethality inside the box and his poacher-like instincts, there is no doubting that he would have done a job leading the line at the Olympic Stadium.

Indeed, West Ham’s fortunes could have been very different this season had Batshuayi made the move. For a while, the Hammers were relegation candidates, and whilst Slaven Bilic was able to lead them out of that hole – it has been, by all accounts, a pretty terrible season for the club. Currently sat in 12th place, the West Ham board will demand a higher finish next year.
The Hammers have certainly lacked potency upfront this year, and that is exactly what Batshuayi, who is rated at £21.25m by TransferMarkt, can provide. He scored 17 goals in his final season in France, which by itself is a pretty remarkable record. Conte’s lack of faith has also done little to harm his record in England – having bagged 2 goals in each domestic cup from just 3 starts per competition.
That being said, at this point, Batshuayi’s stock has never been lower – but perhaps West Ham can use that to their advantage. Chelsea may be ready to sell, and if the Hammers can bag themselves a bargain – what a signing he could be.
