Michael Owen felt Manchester United were comfortable throughout their second leg at Old Trafford despite a nervous end to Thursday night’s 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo.
The Red Devils were 1-0 winners in Spain last week thanks to Marcus Rashford’s second-half free-kick in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash.
Marouane Fellaini handed the Red Devils a 2-0 aggregate lead thanks to a close-range header in the 17th minute at Old Trafford.
However, Celta Vigo were in control of the second leg but the visitors couldn’t make a breakthrough until 85th minute when Facundo Roncaglia’s header edged past Sergio Romero.
Eric Bailly and goal-scorer Roncaglia were both sent off a couple of minutes later for violent conduct in what was a frenetic end to the semi-final clash.
Former Manchester City striker John Guidetti wasted an incredible chance to score a winner with the final kick of the Europa League game.
Speaking to BT Sport about Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo at Old Trafford on Thursday night, Owen said:
“There were so many ups and downs. I felt they were really comfortable throughout the game.
“It was an average game for the most part but then in the last 10 minutes or so it just exploded into life with sendings off and players being moved positions.
“It all happened in the last 10 minutes.”
