Brazil are looking better and better with each game in the World Cup qualification campaign. The 3-0 win against Argentina a week ago is the biggest scalp so far and more importantly they kept hold on to the top position in the tournament table. However, there is no room for error as there is another 7 rounds of football to be played in the zone.
The Selecao have now notched up 7 straight wins in the competition scoring a massive 15 with 4 clean sheets. They had a difficult start as the first six matches of the campaign saw them winning only twice, with 3 draws and a lone defeat on the opening matchday against Chile.
Peru on the other hand are also a team on the ascendancy. They were at the rock bottom of the table with 1 win and a draw from their first six matches. With 3 wins and a draw from the last five, Peru have accumulated 14 points in total from their 11 matches so far and put themselves in a good position to challenge for a qualification spot. There is only a 4 point gap between them and the third placed Colombia at the moment.
The Peruvians are coming on the back of a thrilling 4-1 victory away at Paraguay and this will be huge confidence boost in facing one of the biggest teams in South America.
Peru vs Brazil: Head-to-Head Stats
Peru earned a surprise 1-0 win when they faced Brazil at the Copa America Centenario Competition in USA on June 2016. The result eventually eliminated Brazil from the competition in the group stage.
While Brazil picked a comfortable 3-0 win when the teams faced off from the first leg qualifying fixture on November 2015. This was Brazil’s 13th consecutive unbeaten match against Peru in all competition. Peru have now broken the streak with their win in the Copa America.
The last three qualifying fixtures between the two teams at Peru are 1-1 draws. While Brazil managed to grab a 1-0 win before the three draws in a row.
Peru vs Brazil: Prediction
Brazil look unbeatable at the moment and they are expected to carry over their good run of form in the last qualifying match of the calendar year. Yet, they are still not at their very best, but have found the knack of getting results in crucial matches.
Peru are no pushovers and have a good account of themselves while playing at home. But with such a poor head-to-head record, they hardly stand a chance against a Brazil in lethal goal-scoring form.
