Hungary will entertain Sweden as both teams come into this match with opposite mind-sets. Despite taking the lead against France in Paris and perhaps taking a famous victory Sweden lost the match 2-1 in the space of ten minutes. Hungary though won their match over Latvia 2-0 more impressive given that they were away from home.
That win for Hungary has given them a fighting chance in their hopes of qualification for World Cup 2018 as they try to chase down 2nd place Portugal. As for Sweden they are in 2nd place and looking good for automatic qualification, behind France but ahead of Netherlands and they have a good 3 point advantage. This will be a good challenge away from home for them.
Hungary has drawn 50% of its matches this year and there form really is so so coming into this game despite their latest win. At home recently they are win-less in their past 3 games. Sweden has 3 losses to their name in their past six games and on the road they have just the one win and that was against Luxembourg and only by 1-0.
Hungary vs Sweden: Head-to-head Stats
These internationals go back more than 100 years with the latest match taking place in 2011 where Hungary won this fixture 2-1. That win stopped a home rot against the Swedes that went back to 1995 where Sweden very much liked coming here. Three of the last 4 fixtures has ended up 2-1 to the winning team.
Hungary vs Sweden: Predictions
At home Hungary can be expected to win this match and Sweden don’t travel too well. Hungary may stick two up front and opt for the diamond formation and we could see a good win here for the home team.
